    Dynamis-Tavnazia Batting Average

I'm not sure how often this zone get repeated due to the time/cost constraints and the issue with drop rates, but I have a question for any groups that have cleared this zone more than once.

Once you have developed a strategy that works, is this something that you go in expecting to win, or is this something like a Xarcabard clear where you can do everything right, and still lose because the Dynamis Lord cheats?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Other than getting a title and cutscene, there is no practical reason to actually go for the win here. Shoot for the time extensions and concentrate on farming.

On the subject of DL, if you really think he fucks you over that often, you're Doing It Wrong(tm). If you have the firepower to kill him decently quickly and have stunners that aren't busy jerking off instead of stunning, you should win unless he pulls off a split -> sync Oblivion Smash between stuns, which is really one of his few "I win!" buttons. Your melees should all be starting with TP, they should all have poison on, any that have highly damaging 100% TP WSs should have Icarus Wings, and as many as possible should have SV N/T BRD buffs. KC DRKs sure help, but aren't necessary, and if your BRDs are overachievers, they should have a 300% Spirits ready with HP gear on. Sound like a lot of work? Yeah, doing things right usually is, but a hundred k or so in meds spread over the LS is cheaper than another Xarc run to try again.

From my LS's DKP, we've done 23 Tav runs, six of which were attempts at the boss, with one win and one close loss (killed Diamond and timed out with Club at 10%). If you know what you're doing, you'll *always* have time to attempt Diabolos, should you want to waste time on it. The major factors besides that are twofold. One, your members have to be really fucking good at not agroing the Diabolos NPCs. Ours suck at it. If you agro two and have a weak group, or three or more, you're fucked, go farm. Two, you can get somewhat lucky on which Diabolos spawns from the one or two NPCs you agro. They aren't equally hard. That's pure luck, and ours has tended to suck in that regard. Now, after saying all of that, it's a total waste of time even when you win and you should be farming for hot stuff like WAR body -1s and DRG legs -1 instead.

    Good luck!

Zosi is somewhat right about the having time to do Diabolos thing. The previous Tavnazia run we did was to kill Diabolos for the remaining members who needed titles. We managed to kill Diabolos, AND get both extensions. It's all about preparation and quick execution.

And our group killed two Diaboloses :3 It was fun

The very last Tav we did, we got really lucky and the worm popped right after the bugard. I tripped over it (aggroed lulz) while we were running upstairs to the antlion.

I meant more that you'll always be able to get enough extensions to try Diabolos rather than farm, not necessarily enough to do a full farming run and Diabolos, although that's certainly possible with practice. During most of our older ones, we just tried a quick run through the Diabolos NPC area right after the first NMs and before farming, and fought Diabolos if we got 1-2 or went to farm if we got 3-4. Nowadays we just go straight to farming and have no problem getting both of the farming extensions.

... The day I intentionally farm items for DRGs ...

This was very helpful. For the most part the main reason we would be going to Tavnazia would be for the Title and for the clear. Items are nice. I like winning more.

I'm mostly interested in the luck factor involved in the clear, not really concerned with farming routes. For example, everytime I roll up on Proto Omega, I expect to win. We've developed a plan that works for us, and our members can excute our strategy repeatedly and without error. Saying that an experienced group is 1 for 6 clearing Dynamis Tavnazia tells me quite a bit.

Izzy would probably be able to give better suggestions given that my LS stopped going for the win after our first, but my main suggestion for handling the agro avoidance is just to take your time. If you're doing the run soley for the flag, go straight to it after you get the NM extensions, and send each person through "the gauntlet" individually. Make sure people aren't following each other, that's what tends to get us.

The Umbral Diaboloses (Diabolii sounds cooler) don't move quickly, but they move often, not sitting in one spot for more than a few seconds. As such, if one person sees an opening and goes, a few more people think it's a good idea to follow them, and eventually one too many people tags along and the last one gets spotted. That's the situation you want to avoid. Don't rush it, and don't panic if you agro a single Diabolos, because you'll have to anyways to kill it. It *might* be worth it to strategically agro one right off the bat, if you think it'd make it easier to get through with only three to worry about, but that's a gamble, since a single fuckup after that leaves you with two to take care of.

Sadly, I don't think there's anything you can do about the luck of the draw regarding which Diabolos you end up fighting. Spade is a fucking wimp that doesn't cast anything or use Nightmare, all of the rest can Nightmare and cast fun stuff like Sleepga II and Death, and Diamond will single target charm (possibly multple times) after Nightmare, which always makes things... "interesting". When we've had to fight two at once, we had someone hold the second over in a corner, but honestly, they're dickheads and it ends up being pretty hard no matter how you handle multiples.

I know you have "I wanna win yeaaaaaah" stuck in your head, but seriously in Tavnazia outside a title there's no reward for it. Unlike Xarca where killing the boss gives you ring/mantle/100piece, there isn't even a 100piece from this boss, just a hippy cutscene.

You're only wasting time trying to kill this boss more than once. Kill it once and then focus on farming after that.

I've always wondered if there wasn't something special that happens if you fight and kill all four Diablos suits. Like maybe he drops 4 100s or something. Probably not, but the fact that I've never done it nor read of anyone else successfully attempting it, and the fact that it seems somewhat pointless to even try otherwise leaves me with the lingering doubt that there might be some kind of unique reward. I feel much the same way about Metal Chip Temenos, like maybe it drops the item to enfeeble AV or something lol

If you want to make sure you don't aggro multiple Diabolos...TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!! Make sure to instruct your members NOT to follow someone else, and to use their own judgment when passing between Diabolos.

As for killing all 4 Diabolos, I had this wicked awesome idea of popping all 4 Diabolos, then kiting them around Tavnazia and picking them off one by one...but apparently they draw in so that strat was shot to shit. I would like to kill all 4 one day to see if someone significant does happen.

For the ??? time extensions, do you just have 1 person sacrifice themselves to pop it while the rest of the alliance waits somewhere safe? We've only done a few Tav runs; the 2nd floor TE, we did a sac while the rest of the alliance starts on floor 3, at the 3rd floor ???. we were trying to situate the alliance at the ??? and pull from there, but we've been having problems. In short, out of 3 runs, we've wiped 3 times after popping the 2nd ???. So... have a saccer pop the ??? or is there some other way to do this?

Took a lot of effort to read that, but in my experience a sac person is the way to go. I'll usually have everyone move to the next floor before clicking the ??? and sacing on the side we cleared to just past the hornets in the tunnel so I can reraise. For the second time extension, it's better to use a thief or something with flee because you don't want to pop everything on the side you've already cleared, asumming you intend to farm that side with the remaining time. So assuming we've cleared say the south side up to the ??? on the 2nd floor we go to, I'll have everyone move back from the tunnel then have a thf click the ??? and die shortly outside of the north tunnel. It's pretty much suicide to try to farm much of anything if you're dealing with the normal mobs and the repops.

Not to beat a dead horse either but can the OP give one plausible reason as to why getting the win in Tavnazia is a necessity? Can sort of understand the "because it's a challenge" mindset, but your ultimate goal in dynamis is to have fun and get some items no? In my experiences, doing Diabolos provided neither one of those.

For myself, havng fun is not synonymous with getting items.

In Dynamis alone, we've had runs where we get tons of conis, and tons of AF, and it still feels like a grind and no one has fun. We've also had runs in certain CoP zones or Northlands zones, and we get almost no coins or AF, but the majority of the members in the LS have more fun. The different quirks of the zones makes them more exciting, and the change of pace helps keep people interested in the event.
