Ask the guy that posted above you.
Some people connect with that candidate, and firmly believe that their candidate would be best for the job.

Yup. Like I pointed out a few pages back you don't need to be registered to vote to be summoned.

And when/if this state ever swings blue, its 6 electoral votes (perhaps 5 for future elections).. it's a pretty meaningless contribution to the needed 270. If I lived in a swing state, or.. at the very least a state with a significant number of electoral votes, maybe I'd care enough to vote. I'm obviously not real passionate about the election either way (or the election process), but I support Obama out of our options..
Bush won the 2000 election 271 electoral votes to Al Gore's 266.

Yea, 6 electoral votes are so insignificant. Why do candidates even campaign in states with less than 15 electoral votes? Amirite?

I'm kinda pissed. I wanted to vote here in NY, but I guess I'm registered to vote in Florida...where I used to live. Now it's too late to send in an absentee vote for FL where my vote might actually matter.

This is pretty much what happened to me, I am not registered here in Florida, but I am registered in PA. If I could fly back up there (lol, yeah, cause I'm swimming in money ...) I could vote, but looks like I'm not able to this year. I'm kind of pissed about that. :/

qft srly, it's sad a friend and I say it a lot, I have a feeling mccain is going to win this election, because of the hype behind obama. Too many people are going to be like "well obama's going to win anyways so no point in voting." And we're going to be stuck with another idiot cowboy.

    Backwards logic is backwards.

If you failed a history test knowing full well that you did nothing prepare yourself for it, can you complain?

If your girlfriend is cheating on you while you do nothing to confront/stop her, do you have any room to complain?

By not voting, you're basically saying "sorry I don't care enough to exercise my right to a political voice, and I'm too lazy to get off my ass to choose THE FUCKING LEADER OF MY COUNTRY so I'll stand by and let everyone else choose for me".

If you don't want to voice your opinion on who'll be president, then you don't need to voice your opinion if/when they fuck shit up.

My opinion is voting encourages a system I don't agree with, why should I participate?

Are you against democracy in general or just the dominance of a two-party system?

if it's the former then fine, but even if it's the latter there are still local elections and propositions to vote on, plus you can throw a vote at Nader or something.

I don't like the idea of two dominant parties, or the fact that ethics are fucking terrible. I hate politicians who put up commercials trying to belittle or slander the opponent. What are you, 12? Seriously, biased people using a biased commercial to support themselves, makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

Clarity.. it's insignificant this election; Obama will have at least 295 electoral votes this year.

I'm a Libertarian, thus voting Bob Barr (whom I agree with the most). I've been told time after time about how voting this way is a complete waste, but it's what I believe in. The amount of apathy I see in the US is sickening when the primary reason people are voting for a Democrat or Republican is one of the following:

    • Vote for Obama because of the 8 years of Bush!
    • Voting for one candidate as they see them as the lesser of two evils.
    • Voting for McCain because Obama has an Islamic name, thus must be a terrorist!

Our idiot governor, Tim Kaine, has now allowed felons to vote in Virginia. Also, if you wear any political sticker or clothing to the polls in Virginia, they will not let you vote. I was hoping to wear my shirt:
"Democrats want government to solve all our problems.
Republicans want government to legislate morality.
I just want the government to leave me alone.
    I'm a Libertarian!"
