    Yeah, it was discussed a few weeks ago. Seiryu definitely has a massive TP-regen, while none of the other gods seem to.

    And yeah, I'm also curious about the lack of Poison II.. He definitely used it on Seiryu, which would be more difficult to land than on Suzaku. Speaking of Seiryu, and not to sound arrogant, but this seems painfully easy in comparison.

    EDIT: He's totally using Poison II.

    Perhaps he used Poison II on Seiryu because Seiryu has the ability to completely fuck your shit up whenever he wants, so whittling his health down faster is imperative to success. Suzaku seems like a much smoother fight, but it requires a lot of MP to cure yourself after Firagas and such, so Poison II is less of a priority.

    I can't say I've ever actually tried, but why would it be harder to land water-based Poison II on wind-based Seiryu than fire-based Suzaku?

    because fire's weakness is water. the sky gods are very resistant to everything that's not their weakness element, even then enfeebles sometimes take a few tries to land. but i don't see how poison is hard to land on suzaku unless theres something i'm missing

    Ok, I've just been away from FFXI for too long then, that makes sense.

    Yeah, what he said. Even for spells that a god is weak to, my success rate is ~80%. Though, there are random exceptions O_o; I can Silence and Gravity Genbu almost 100% of the time, while my Binds on him are never really guaranteed.

    oh god lets not get into the enfeebles vs sky gods .... (remembers the doton: ichi thread...). poison II is pretty easy to land on Suzaku, if avesta isn't using it here (haven't watched yet) there must be a legit reason.

    I didn't watch the whole video, but its possible that he didn't want to make suzy chainspell before he ran it out of mp? I didn't get to the part that it used chainspell, did it cast anything for it?

    I'd guess he doesn't use poison 2 at the beginning to lower the chance that Suzaku's hp goes low enough for it to use Chainspell before it runs out of mp.

    Ah, did he start using it later? I only skimmed the end after it ran out of mp.

    That may have been it. Though, I don't see what the big deal would is, its fairly easy to counter it with your own Chainspell Silence.

    Perhaps, but it's possible he wants to save it for other emergencies. He uses a Vile Elixir +1 at one point when he goes in to red hp with fairly low mp (around 150ish), so I guess he was just being cautious.

    Also, I think a Hermes Quencher would be a better way to counter it. Silence isn't reliable and you never know how many Firaga's he might get off. Not to mention that Firaga > Flare is probably fatal even with an MDB setup.

    All true. I suppose it just depends on how cautious you're trying to be. I've just never had that much trouble Silencing anything in Tu'Lia.

    Well, with 337 EnfSkill + 25 MagAcc and a HQ Ele Staff and 3 wind merits, I still seem to be at the Silence Accuracy floor (5-10% success). I'd be curious to know what you're using, because I think 342/29 or 345/27 is the current cap...

    Well, you've definitely got me beat. Do you honestly spend that much time trying, or do you just give up after getting a resist or two? <_<;

    Not trying to be condescending in the least, I just can't imagine people actually testing this.

    What else does a RDM do during a sky fight?

    I usually have 3 refreshes, 2 hastes, and then I just try to silence stuff. I only recently added 10 MagAcc to my setup though, and I was hoping that would get me above the floor. I've never seen any evidence that it's even possible to break the 10ish % floor though, which was why I was asking...

    Was gonna ask about how Chainspell silence could be effective too, since silence rarely lands vs gods. Btw though, gravity has an OK success rate on suzaku with max skill/mag acc/hq staff. Avesta didn't seem to need it, but its nice to know just in case.

    This is not old news. He's soloed Seiryu before but never before this has Suzaku been soloed.

    I would think Chainspell itself would be a suitable countermeasure for combating Suzaku's Chainspell - keep the MDB set equipped and spam Ni/Stoneskin on yourself until it's over. That is, of course, assuming Suzaku hasn't run out of MP by that point anyway. Hermes Quencher could also help a great deal.

    suzy is hard solo x.x;

    if it used CS before it ran out of mp, you'd need to rely more on luck than on anything else. silence isn't consistant, and there is a good chance you'll die before you land it if you just spam it. cs utsu/ss/cures isn't really very reliable either, because you'll almost definitely run out of mp, even if you could otherwise survive it.

    gravity could be a great way to survive it. should be able to survive 3-4 nukes while running out of range, depending on luck with resists (a combination of fire resist, and mdb gear is best IMO, i got around maybe a 50% resist rate with around 190ish total resist), otherwise you could survive 2-3 depending on mdb gear, and max hp. of course, if you can't land gravity, then you're screwed.

    finally, you could deal with it...by dying! although this also involves some luck, you can get several chances to try, if you're prepared for it, and expect it. after dying you have 3 mins before it depops to reclaim it. it's possible to use powder boots, gravity it (this is where the luck comes in), run across the island, and log off to reset the the despawn timer. this might be annoying, because it will regen to full, but that just means it'll take longer, which shouldn't really matter much for something like this. after logging back on you'll have 30~45 secs or so after weakened wears off before it depops, so not much time to rest.
    if you gravity gets resisted, then simply RR and try again. if you only have 1 pair of powder boots, then you'll need to sac it 3 more times, each attemplt, so it'd be best to have 2-3 pairs if wanted to do that, but of course inventory limitations ftl.

    next, as was already suggested, you could try using hermes quencher, which may allow you to stall it long enough to survive the end of it's CS, but i'm not so sure about that. probably combine this with some gravity for best results.

    and finally, the safest way, is to simply not damage it (or very little) until it runs out of mp, so it won't CS, until after it's out of mp. again, this will result in a slower fight, but that's not as important as surviving.
