gaming capabilities of the Voodoo envy 133

    Hello,
I am looking into getting a new laptop, but i would also like it to be able to play ffxi as well as just do normal things, i don't really want to spend a whole lot of money on this laptop but i would also like a decent laptop. I would like to spend anywhere from $1500-2000 dollars, closer $1500. I was looking into the voodoo 133 envy as my laptop of choice but i don't know if it will be able to handle this game, would anyone be able to give me some advice? thank you in advance.

You'll need laptop with dedicated memory (ie radeon or geforce.) Newegg has some good ones in your price range and xoticpc has better ones

I've had my eye on this one specifically: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-f8vab1-p-2444.html

Edit: Dell also has the Studio 1700 series, but they aren't as great as the one(s) I mentioned above from xoticpc

Although I don't doubt the quality of that laptop it's specs are really lacking especially for a price of $1500 (assuming that's what it is since I couldn't find it anywhere on there website)

but 80gb hdd (wtf?) most laptops are up to 320gb now

Anything with a modern processor and *dedicated* video memory will do fine. Gaming-branded laptops are usually horrible ripoffs, you pay $500 more for the same system with little lightning stickers and a weird-colored case.

The Envy 133 is utter trash. Integrated video on a $2k "gaming laptop"? Uh huh...

Edit: you have to look around a bit for the prices, but the Envy 133s *start* at $2100 and go up to $3400.

Get an old XPS M1700 (dell), they should be going cheapish now and are still pretty good.

dell xps m1710 - Google Product Search

There's a quick link from google shops, dell don't appear to stock it in the US anymore but 3rd party websites should have plenty.
