WS Gorgets Vs. Whatever. Please Assist Thanks.

I have been talking with memeber of my LS about the validity of using the WS Gorgets or Sea Gorgets. I noted that I read a couple posts on here that pretty much said they were useless compared to the Sea Torques and the PCC. They showed parses showing how the ACC was lower when using WS Gorgets on multi-hit WSs.

I searched and searched for about an hour but could not find these threads on here, but I did happen to find one on the wiki forum.

Of course they showed zero parses in the post and said that it gave +10 acc/hit which I've never heard before and no data backing it up didn't really convince me.

Is there a thread that already closed the book on this subject with nice parses showing this one way or the other? If not, is there any new data supporting the ACC or damage output of the WS gorgets Vs. PCC, lolchiv chain or whatever else?

Thanks for any input.

btw, RAWR at SE for not putting a built in parser in FFXI. If there was ever a game where you needed parses to figure stuff out, it's this one.

Yes, it has been tested, I tested, a JP Nin/Thf did a very conclusive test, and during this testing it was also noted that 1st hit/single hit WS acc is weirdly high.

A note to max, at least 2 of the links that you posted do not work anymore. They are the ones about the gorgets on pages ~53-57. If you could somehow get the links again that would be great, I would love to see that data that you refer to.

Aside from Justice and Love torques, the gorgets will always be best. They add the acc of the chram and add a bit of damage to the first hit.

This but my main concern for me is Peacock/Chiv vs. Gorget on multihit attacks (Asuran/Stringing Pummel/etc).

Spot on. And I assume you mean Justice for Tachi: Rana only.

There is no reason to use chram over gorget, the 10 acc is applied to all hits so even though the damage bonus is small, it is better than chram.

I'd say generally chram is better than chiv too, so gorget > chram > chiv.


Ancient torque is probably the best for weapons that aren't on Love or Justice torque.

Yeah, I was talking multihits. Single hit (and I guess 2 hit, but nobody uses 2 hit wses) WSes are always the gorget.

Justice Torque for DRK there of course, gorget beats out JT quite nicely on SAM.

Use Gorget over PCC/Chiv because Gorget is 10acc to all hits and +0.1fTP to the first. There is literally no point in using PCC over Gorget on any compatible WS, multihit or not. As for 3str vs 0.1fTP, it's rare to find 3STR beating 0.1fTP even on only one hit (and then you have the 5acc difference on a multihit too).

Ahh, I haven't read into the Gorgets as of late. Didn't realize that the ACC applied to all hits (thought it was only the first). Thanks for the input!

Pretty sure the +0.1 fTP will have more of an effect than +5 STR/7(6.3) attack. I will cede that I'm not a DRK so I'm only speaking from a mathematical standpoint and not actual parses.

Well, admittedly I haven't parsed the two against each other, but to me 5STR (+atk from it as well) and then the 7atk (isn't it 1atk/0.9acc >200, and not 0.9atk/0.9acc?) over all hits makes it pretty close at the least.

To be honest, a large part of it is just reluctance with regards to farming organs again
