So one of our LS members was browsing gear around Whitegate and announced in LS chat he saw someone wearing a Rajas and Tamas at the same time. We of course said POIDH and he posted the following on our forums a few minutes later:

So yeah WTF? Anyone heard/seen something like this before?

(Before anyone throws shopped around -- as I said he posted this literally 5 minutes after he took the screenshoots according to the windower and forum timestamps. I'm posting this because he doesn't have BG account and is too lazy to make one for himself and gave me the ok to do so.)

Probably just a bug, it showing equipment of someone else examined, failing that, maybe they got lucky with a dumb GM? Said they tossed ring, and re-obtained another via pub?

Might depend on how the game checks on whether you can get one or not.

Like, can you drop it, trigger the wait period, and if you luck out with a GM restoral of that ring, get a second when the wait period is up?

I assume the "safer" way to do it would be to drop, get a different ring, and then ask a GM to restore the original one...a GM with little knowledge of the game (not that those exist ) might see it not in inventory and restore it...

Problem is, most SGMs, the only ones that can restore the items, have some knowledge of the game already..
This would have to have been done a long time ago or yeah, some new GM wandering about.

the only other thing that comes to mind is, on occasion the delbox has been broken and allowed shipping of rare/ex items (or else the items themselves)... for example, to the best of my knowledge, Smart Grenade can still be sent via delbox... and it's R/E. There was something else in the past, an event item iirc, but the exact item escapes me at the moment (and has been fixed... think it was an egg item)...

So this is possibly a carryover of that (although clearing CoP on two chars and risking a ring like that... I dunno) as an obscure error... hard to say.

I seen something similar. I most definately believe it's lag based on checking on whoever was checked previously.

So does the GM actually do the restoration himself and not a SGM? You would think that someone would, I donno, check things out first.

I was under the impression the item restore policy didn't allow any of the now-redoable rings/earrings to be restored regardless of status D:

Think this has been resolved very recently already and the player, which should be noted that he is JP, only has 1 ring right now as of today.

GMs are aware of this screwup and I don't think it'll happen again.

Well, I have heard about ppl who did account roll back ending up with 2 rajas ring, so I wouldn't discard this.
