That would just be fantastic to see them screw him up.Sequel
As a preemptive measure, Paramount and DreamWorks announced a July 1, 2011 release date for a third Transformers film before completion of Revenge of the Fallen. Bay responded, "I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots."[145] Like Revenge of the Fallen, Orci refused to guarantee whether he and Kurtzman would return to a sequel, because "we risk getting stale".[146] Orci has mentioned he would like to introduce Unicron "for scale's sake".[96] The co-writer also said introducing Triple Changers would be interesting.[147]
Before Transformers was released, producer Tom DeSanto had "a very cool idea" to introduce the Dinobots,[148] while Bay was interested in an aircraft carrier, which was dropped from the first film.[149] Orci claimed they did not incorporate these characters into Revenge of the Fallen because they could not think of a way to justify the Dinobots' choice of form,[22] and were unable to fit in the aircraft carrier.[141] Orci also admitted he was also dismissive of the Dinobots because he does not like dinosaurs ("I recognize I am weird in that department," he said),[150] but he became fonder of them during filming because of their popularity with fans.[151] He added "I couldn't see why a Transformer would feel the need to disguise himself in front of a bunch of lizards. Movie-wise, I mean. Once the general audience is fully on board with the whole thing, maybe Dinobots in the future."[152]
That shit about the dinobots pisses me off. You are going to see a movie about giant alien robots that disguise themselves as cars fighting over what's in the mind of some kid who touched a shard of some kind of stone, and you are worried that something (which is particularly popular with the fans) may not be exactly "plausible"?
ME GRIMLOCK NOT HAPPY!
I mean, I suppose I do, but it just seems to me that if you are going to be making a movie wherein the fans of the source material would make up a vast majority of your viewership that leaving out popular elements just because some random 14 year olds might be a little confused as to why there is a robot dinosaur just seems silly to me. If I saw Grimlock in this movie and it wasn't perfectly explained, I can't imagine that I would leave the theatre disappointed.
Fucking up the source material is why Spiderman 3 sucked so bad. No one that was a fan of the comics or tv show would have known if you had or had not stayed true to certain elements of the story, so why not just leave it the way that the fans of the series would most appreciate?
I could think of a million and one ways to introduce Grimlock
1) He was on earth, dormant and underground. He gets reactivated but is stuck as a dinosaur
2) He picks the most feared animal ever, and decides on T-Rex. Of course he is too stubborn to change to something else...
3) He is Grimlock and doesn't give a shit about being in disguise and just goes as a T-Rex...
etc etc.
Besides, why would a dinosaur be illogical? I mean, there was a 50 foot scorpion in the first and I see previews of a giant tiger thingy...
That's why I don't see why they WOULDN'T have Grimlock. The first movie was just a long action packed commercial (one that I liked a lot mind you) for Mountain Dew, Burger King, Xbox 360, and whatever car brand sponsered the autobots... so what reason do they have to worry about making much sense by introducing a popular character? It was all about corporate sponsorship.
I'm sure if there was a company with a T-Rex as its mascot paying them enough money they'd have Grimlock in his original form walking past said corporation saying something like "ME GRIMLOCK LIKE THIS!", scan the T-Rex off the sign, and be all set.
See, this is where you're wrong. I forget what the total gross of Transformers was, but it's somewhere in the hundreds of millions. And with a gross in the hundreds of millions, you can guarantee that fans die hard enough to know the specific dinobots related canon are not the vast majority of your viewership. The vast majority of your viewership is comprised of people who maybe have a passing idea of what Transformers is and want to see robots fight. You have to explain a lot less to an audience when robots transform into cars than when they transform into dinosaurs.
Cars: Oh, they're blending in and cars can carry people and go really fast, got it.
That's pretty much it right there. They somewhat showed this in the first Transformers movie when they first landed on Earth. The Autobots chose cars since its easier to blend in with. I don't remember how it was explained in the cartoon, but it is easier to grasp. With Dinobots you have to explain Dinosaurs walking around.
Just saw this on late night MTV. THE SUPER EXCLUSIVE CLIP THEY'RE REVEALING.

Yes, I understand that. It is a summer popcorn movie that is about the action moreso than the storyline. There was never an explanation about why there was a Scorpion robot, and now in the new movie, some like tiger robot, they just were. I went with my cousin who had only ever known that transformers were toys and not a widely popular cartoon series, and she didn't even notice that Scorponok seemed out of place as the only one that was not some sort of vehicle.
Oops, Grimlock crashed a bit off course, right into a museum, and the first thing he sees is a giant model replica T-Rex thing. There. Explained.
Hardly any of the robots were transformed to be inconspicuous... there was a twenty minute scene in the first one where all of the autobots were standing in their robot forms outside of Sam's house trying not to be seen. The decepticons just fucked everything up that they wanted. It seemed by the end that they only transformed into cars for ease of travel, not so they could "blend in" with the world around them.
i'm pretty sure that their forms were never explained in the cartoon.
if i remember correctly (which i probably don't) just after their ships landed there was a probe that went out and scanned a bunch of vehicals and other random stuff for the decepticons. never really explained, it just kinda happened.
You children were clearly not old enough to see what happened with the Dinobots. There was a tremor in the mountain where the ark was crashed, Wheeljack found some dinosaur skeletons and thought to create the Dinobots.
The idea was to match the Decepticons in brute force (the Autobots kept getting their ass kicked because they're workers by nature and not fighters like the Decepticons).
Originally they were completely retarded when made and smashed up the Ark, but then got a "slight" brain upgrade before saving the day in the episode.

Wasnt there a blip at the end of the Transformers credits that shows Megatron opening his eyes or something in the bottom of the ocean? My wife swears she's seen it and I know I've heard of it, but neither of us stayed to the end in the theatre and its not at the end of our dvd. Cant seem to find it on youtube either. Maybe I've heard of it because she insists its real >.>
the autobots originally built grimlock, slag and sludge to rival the constructicons. they built snarl and swoop later on to convert the dinobots back to the autobots.
wouldnt have been hard at all to have sector 7 ppls build grimlock at least, would explain the low intellegence >_>;
