I don't think getting XP crafting is a good idea. Maybe if you cap your GP for the day you'd get a XP reward. That way I wouldn't see it being abused up the ass.

Varying requested items per game day and putting a cap on those specific days wouldn't be bad, I think. When you consider the fact a lot of NQs are loss synths, likely unsellable anyway, and even some HQs become useless if the NQ is part of conversion synths, then allowing EXP gain through crafting would actually give a lot of these things some situational use.
There's also the side-effect of increasing demand on base materials, which in turn could make farming a bit more lucrative. Personally, I hate how most anything I have left to buy in the game costs like 2 mil or more, but basic farming stuff might net me 3-10k a stack at most. Such profit margins are also similar to a lot of synths, but the money is not nearly as instant in a lot of cases and I'd even knock 3-5k off the max payday.
Of course, I also wouldn't mind quested/dropped recipes, caps getting upped, or even the ability to merit crafts added to the Others category which, in turn, could allow the introduction of level 115 synths or something that all those little mules could never touch with any safety unless they actually decided to level (and some would, sure, but not a lot).
I think of all this, though, because soloing isn't something equal across all jobs. A DRG/WHM will no doubt get more EXP in an hour solo than a WHM/anything. Heaven help you if you're a Corsair. Sure, some may try to spin it as gil buying levels, and people won't know their jobs, but as someone that didn't give a shit about Campaign and /BRDs, having options is a good thing.
You're kidding, right? Because you're completely wrong.
The "HNM" bosses from Nyzul floors 20, 40, and 60, are NOT the instanced versions of the DA/BD/VoS HNMs/Kings that were pitched to the SE dev team. The idea was to make the actual zones, that you fight each respective mob in, instanced. You would access it by trading a pop item of some sort, and you would be allowed one alliance, on a time limit, into the instanced zone, with the mob. It would have identical drops as the current Fafnir/Nidhogg/Aspi/KB.
I may have missed a detail or two in there, because it was quite a while ago this was suggested. But, that is the basic jist of it.
They actually have something like this. The higher tiers of Material Storm Campaign Ops take crafted items, and offers a small amount of XP. The field of crafting varies between the three past nations. You don't get your free choice of item, of course, and it takes an ops tag each time you run it. For instance, look at the Windurst selection for Material Storm IV:
The Supply manufacturing Ops Crystal Fist and Iron Anvil do something similar, except you only need to direct the NPCs, no synthing or materials on your own part is needed.* 33 Acorn Cookie
* 33 Cinna-cookie
* 4 Apple Pies
* Beaugreen Sautee
* 33 Bretzels
* 12 Iron Bread
* Mushroom Soup
* 3 Roast Trout
<snip> It goes on and on for quite a few more recipes. Some of these can be bought, many are synth only.
I'm sure that square's answer to 3 king whining was to add more instances where you fight a mob of the same family type at differing levels. That way you can experience the 'epicness' *rolls eyes* of a pop HNM without having to camp them. That's probably one of the reasons why we have 18 different iterations of Cerb, Khimera and Hydra.
Too bad they didn't realize that people don't care about fighting the monsters so much as getting the loot.
SE answer to Kings was abjurations in Einherjar. I don't think they ever planned Nyzul as an answer. Any sort of hype about that came from the playerbase and their presumptuous .dat mining frenzies.
The 3-4 you get from Odin that you do once every 2(?) weeks with your well organized einherjar group/linkshell. Really, a high chance of getting body abjurations without having to do the actual DA/VoS/BD grind each and every hq day isn't that what everyone was crying for?
Some people got demoralized before they changed it so you could do Odin every other week because you don't see abjurations in the look pool of normal runs unless the damn sheep decides to pop. And really, for every other week you have to pray that you don't get a bastard of a third tier run. Looking at you, three separate waves and a Behemoth boss.
I believe SE has stated that there's a limit to the amount of stat types that can be added to an item (which Karbuncle went into detail over), so that alone would stop the existence of a pure "Rainbow" staff. But if the staff just gave the Skill+ with the hidden Macc/Mabb/Perp- it would be enough to replace most staves in an inventory. It would also leave enough reason for certain jobs to get certain staves as well, as to not completely outdate their use. Though I do like the idea of it being an Abjuration, it would be nice if mages can get some cursed gear outside of Zenith and Shadow.
The idea was to let the "average" player experience fighting these monsters in a smaller, casual group. It was never about moving the best drops to a smaller BC zone fight. If it was just that, they could have added "HQ" versions of the KSNM99 fights (which they should do anyway imo) and be done with it. Hell, maybe make the KSNMs drop some sort of item and when you get three or so of the item you can do the HQ one or something...but this is just brainstorming now and not whatever SE intended.
And as pointed out, the Abjs, which SE said would come from a different source, come from Odin...
Hmmm Most likely less than a month to the patch yet not one new tidbit in over a week. New approach or just a lack of juicy update details? Hopefully we will get something new tomorrow to look over....
fanfest is this weekend? i've a feeling they're storing 1-2 big news for that
