"Why do we vote on a Tuesday... in November?

The short answer: We used to be a nation of farmers.

The long answer: Congress chose November because the harvest was over and the weather wouldn't be bad enough to prevent people from traveling.

As for Tuesday, people used to have to travel overnight to their polling location. (In 1845, horse was the preferred method of transport.) In an effort to avoid religious days of rest, Congress chose Tuesday, leaving Monday and Wednesday as travel days. Tuesday was voting (and horse-resting) day."

Around here election days are on Sundays, and political campaigning is not allowed the day before that, called day of reflection.

Hmm, I think I voted no. My dad went over everything before we went in and I remember understanding that one.

If not, sorry for cancelling out your vote lol.

    that's the law.
Fuck yea Rai.. Stick it to the man! Give him a !

BTW haven't voted yet.. I'm going after work. Won't be a problem since my landlord's also my polling precinct captain. The sucky thing here in RI is that we have anywhere from 15-33 ballot questions depending on the town you're in. What the fack!

Another NVA voter here. I was astonishingly lucky.

6-8, the polling place had a single line. I got there just before 8, started to get in line...

"OK, L-Z voters, start here, we're splitting the line."

I was the first one in it. ^^ Literally 5 minutes from walking up I'd voted and was off to work.

Yikes if they go alphabetical then I'm screwed. I live in Texas and have the same last name as Bender from Futurama.

Don't listen to the conspiracy. The first 40 seconds of this video will give you the real answer.

Everyone I know already voted, and it seemed everyone that I didn't know also did.
Went up to my voting place and was in and out in 5 minutes.

States are given electoral votes based on population, not land area. I do agree it needs to be changed, though. I think it is four times that the person winning the popular vote lost the election. Is it really democracy if the person receiving the most votes doesn't win?

January, after he's sworn in. Until then, anything's fair game.

I just don't see a Jewish president taking office anytime soon. America is just not ready.
