    Grief Tactics

I feel this is a rhetorical question, but can someone list me off what exactly counts as "grieving?"

About to bitch out a GM over a bullshit ban, and I need to know exactly how these idiots will try to twist the definition to benefit themselves.

Among other things I believe doing an old-fashioned Cure + Invincible steal attempt and possibly DoTing slept mobs may apply, but fucked if I've ever seen a GM actually ban someone for anything.

Griefing is a LOT of the realm of "subjective" to the player, the complaint, the action, and the description.

What happened? More specifically, what exactly did you do that constituted a ban for griefing?

Doing something that's an obvious cockblock.

Putting up spikes and curebombing someone who beat you to an NM for example.

Killing a beastmaster's pets when they're soloing a big NM (or grabbing it when they're swapping pets).

Killing Ix'Drg from 5% that some blms low-manning it via the disband from party->run through portal method spawned and got to 5%.

Getting too obvious about price manipulation on the AH, or repeatedly trying to cure or buff someone that's trying to craft.

Taking off level-sync and killing everything in a zone to drive other parties out (probably marginal).

can you cite examples? the general rule GMs followed as i understood was "yellow name, fair game."

General rules don't really mean much, it depends what the GM you got feels for anything that isn't blatantly outlined one way or the other in the handbook. Griefing is anything done solely with intent to aggravate another player.

I remember someone Diaga'ing my groups Groundkeepers multiple times at Despot camp, and he got a day ban for it (GM saw him do it as well). iirc the reasoning behind it was, yellow is fair game if your intent is to kill the monster. Obviously diaga and zoning means you aren't trying to kill the monster.

You can get a ban for greifing if you are intentionally farming thier exp mobs. Happened to me once.

This party kicked me for no reason so I changed to thf and killed all anticans/spider/beetles in that entrance of Quicksands Caves. 72hr ban.

Far as I'm aware SE still won't act on the nice killing a BST's pets while they're soloing thing.

wish people would learn the difference between ban and suspension. 72hr 'ban' is just improper. also when you say 'i got banned for 3days' is just stupid talk.

    I once spammed someone with

    me > "PUSSY"
    him > "?"
    me > "PUSSY"
    him > "wha?"
    me > "PUSSY"
    him > "I don't get it"
me > "AND YOU NEVER WILL!"

That didn't count as a grief tactic, so far...

    *fingers crossed*

Greifing is any activity/action, which is normally allowable due to the current mechanics of the game but used in excess and in such a fashion as to purposefully keep another player or group of players from playing the game normally.

Killing every XP mob at an occupied camp just to be a dick is griefing.
    MPK is griefing.
Spamming an area with /random is griefing.

In summation: Being a dick just to be a dick is griefing.

aka don't be an ass to people. I've never had a suspension / ban in any of the 8+ years I've been playing MMO's, yet I continue to have a good time! I don't get people.

Also, to Avarice... And to a lot of people, I guess. Why do people load up their bawwcannons every time they're about to talk to a GM? Its not like you're going to ream his ass out and show him supreme unjustice and he'll promptly un-suspend you... shrug.

I got an RMT banned the other night for trying to MPK my group at Bomblets. Unfortunately, GM only banned 1 out of 3 in their pt, since he was caught in the act while the GM was physically there. All 3 of them had tried to MPK us on our previous pop and earlier while we were farming triggers. The remaining 2 are now selling bomblets to themselves using mules for crazy low prices, trying to make us quit farming them. I should report them again for AH manipulation...

    This was my 3rd GM call of the night ^^;

This also falls under the category of griefing, and shortly after CK and I both made the GM calls, the offending players left. Guess they didn't want to press their luck.

Basically, we asked them nicely to share the pets with us and they refused, and then started pulling all the mobs we were casting on. When they got a link and died, they came back as 75 to rape the zone, so we GMed them.

Really does pay not to be an asshole in this game.
