I really don't think any Republican would have won this election. McCain is a better Republican candidate for President than their past nominees. Although, yes, the addition of Palin to the ticket didn't really help his chances of winning, but McCain himself doesn't deserve a whole lot of ridicule, especially after his speech last night.
They might have been able to counter Obama's new-politician-smell with Bobby Jindal if he would've run. A Jindal - Romney (maybe?) ticket would've been a real hard counter to Obama - Biden and been a lot closer of a race.

McCain himself does deserve ridicule, I am sorry. He let Palin and his campaigners run completely out of control, and only showed any remorse once it was clear he had lost. His speech was gracious and humble, but his campaign was a complete trainwreck from practically day one.

The Average Republican's favorite scapegoat has been the media since before I was born, tbqh.

    e:

    "Bush: Not my president"
except he pretty legitimately lost that election, the hate for him was fairly justified

Well, Bush actually did say that he was the president of the people who voted for him. Plus the election controversy where there were questions about the validity of the election

Obama said the he was the president of everyone.

Did he rig the 2004 election too? "legitimately lost" the election is accurate at all and you know it, but don't gay up the thread with that bullshit.

edit: apparently no jokes can be made about Obama's presidency

No, Kenneth Blackwell, Ohio Secretary of State (who determines voting specifics, like voting booth distribution) and honorary co-chair of the Committee to Reelect the President, rigged it.

Diebold, the company that made the voting machines used in Ohio in districts where Kerry was predicted to win but lost (among other places), contributed over $500,000 to the re-election campaign.

Gore won the 2000 election, btw. Sorry that makes you cry. :<

Like it or not, sympathy goes down as income goes up because past whatever point there is no risk for for not easily being able to live a comfortable, decent life.

No risk? Have you ever dealt with a payroll of more than Burger King employees? Or an inventory consisting of more than some match box cars and toothpicks? My business is a niche business, heavily depended upon quality and pricing simultaneously, with most of my raw materials fluctuating enough to make your headspin - yet I have to maintain quality and price to my customers. You mean to tell me that someone that has minimal responsibility in a company should have more risk/reward ratio (less risk more reward to clarify) than someone who deals on higher levels than 'pushing a button' on a daily basis?

If i was to screw over my employees, they would screw me. It's lose-lose unless we all work together. And I know how to do everything in my company from sweeping the floor, to running/maintaining machinery, and all the admin and sales/marketing -- yet respect goes along way. I would never dare pay someone minimum wage (even though that is too high imo for my area) because it's insulting. I've been there, done that, and wouldn't do it to anyone else.

It's also unimaginable how sympathy goes up for the 'average joe lunchbox' since I've been that guy, and when I needed help I actually had the ambition to seek alternatives than to take from the 'better-off'. Government should step in, once again, as a last resort in my beliefs and help out those in DIRE need, not those who think they need.

We both obviously have opposite, unchangeable views on the subject of 'wealth-sharing', lol. Maybe one day our views will merge into something Utopian.

I wouldn't have... because that doesn't seem like a joke at all to me.
Guess that kind of humor just isn't for me.

I'm pretty sure your perception of how someone makes their way in the world is rather Utopian.

When making a potentially controversial joke, the level of funny has to outdo the level of controversy.

That did not happen, partially because the statement had no real relevance. A more relevant joke might be "Obama is President! Racism Worldwide Pronounced Dead!" Or "Nov. 4, 2008: The day America was saved from complete destruction".

If you make/have a ton of money, you don't have as much personal risk as an employee who has far less invested.
