Do you still stand by your statement that she was the best pick that mccain could've made?

In retrospect, I think romney would've been his best shot. there wouldn't have been such a huge post-convention swing, but I think it would have been a sustainable bounce rather than a bubble.

He would've helped on economic issues and in the geography of michigan and mountain west. I also doubt he would have had epic fail at "what newspapers do you read?"

It wouldn't have been easy, but republicans wouldn't have been scared of a romney presidency.

If the economy didn't crash, he probably would've won in large part due to her.

Yes I do. There was no reason for Repub's to vote for McCain and he had to give them a reason. Every other person in the primaries had some blemish on their record, she didn't. I think Kay Bailey was the next best choice, but aside from Lincoln I don't think a non-exec Repub. has ever been elected. Wouldn't be good to have two Senators on the ticket.

Re: the Newsweek project. There was an article recently published in GQ by a guy who had signed on to write for it and eventually quit (at least that's the impression I got, maybe he's still going to write something for it). Anyway it is one of the greatest (and probably the most cynical) pieces about the relationship between politicians and the media I've ever read. Sorry if it's been posted before.

I was too ecstatic and amazed to get choked up on election night. Radio replayed Obama's speech though the next day, and then I did get a bit choked up. The magnitude of what just happened really hit me.
