As for comparisons to fast food shenanigans, this isn't pissing in someone's drink at the drive through, this is getting their name/CC info off the receipt, finding their address, and sending them a "special treat" to apologize for the poor service they received.

The incident happened at the Coogee Bay Hotel on NRL Grand final night three weeks ago, when a large complementary bowl of ice cream was delivered to their table.

edit: But to be fair, I still haven't found out what this couple's complaint was, nor how they voiced said complaint.

The Whyte family from Queens Park claim they were served contaminated ice-cream free-of-charge on October 5 after complaining they could not hear the televised NRL grand final over the pub's loud music.

I wasn't making the comparison that they tracked them down, but rather that they went out of their way to give them a free bowl of ice cream as opposed to just spitting in a drink they ordered as they were making it. It was a special delivery after the initial opportunity passed.
