Oops, sorry, I don't want to keep quoting and make it hard to scroll down. Yes, those were 2 rebuttals to his paper, which he countered. I know what you mean about stirring the pot though lol, while looking for more information about it I ended up finding out that whole deal about Krauss and the 'disclaimer' he had put on it.

Edit: Oh, in case it seems otherwise, I really am for cleaner energy sources and less pollution. It doesn't matter one way or the other how the planet warms or cools if we all choke to death, can't find clean water, or run out of energy before then.

If an idiot tells me that people can fly in metal boxes, it does not make it false. Intelligent design is the poor attempt some people use to try and move creationism into the field of science. (I'm not defending the idea at all. I'm just saying that there are otherwise intelligent people in the world who choose to believe an invisible somebody who watches over them, can read their hearts and minds, and most of all loves them; but will still send them to Hell in a heartbeat.)
When any scientist can look at the body of evidence supporting evolution and the corresponding lack of a testable hypothesis for ID, and support teaching ID as a scientific alternative to evolution...I feel very confident in dismissing him as a good source for scientific opinion.

No need to bring theism into this.

Yeah I couldn't figure out if you were referring to me or not, most models incorporate everything they can about natural climate cycles, but the more complicated a model gets the more difficult it becomes to compute projections. Lots of work is being done to distinguish what components of current climate change are natural (and what exactly is causing these natural cycles, this is still a very interesting question on many fronts) and to what degree.

oh ok good then yeah we're on the same page. I'm never going to say that we know with absolute certainty what will happen, but based on the data avaliable we can make reasonable predictions and assume some statistical truth to the models.

I'd love it if the vast majority of climate scientists were wrong, not just because it would obviously require drastic corrections to models which would hopefully improve them. Monckton's problem was that his paper absolutely would not pass peer review in an elite journal, there are plenty of other places where you can submit a valid model and data and be accepted (and I'm pretty sure his wasn't), but his hissy fit was deplorable.

There's just tons and tons of good data out there, I think there was an article that came out recently that showed that the total area of antarctic ice was increasing (not polar ice). I'm not sure if they distinguish surface area and volume of actual ice, but it's wrong to say these data are not included in the scientific literature (or in the models that show overall global warming).

    edit SURFACE area.

Okay, so this is going to come off as me being an asshole, but I'm very pissed off right now (nothing to do with this).

For the love of god did you even read anything I posted before? I said by 2050 there's a huge growth in population and that right now we have a problem with water and energy. That's in our (certainly my) lifetime. And that's decades from now NOT centuries.
