I need to figure out what kind of pancakes you guys are getting that they are even comparable to cakes and pies.

Not to say that every cake or pie I've had was awesome, but I've never had a breakfast food compare to some of the best desserts that I've had.

The trick is to get creative with your batter and what, if any, extras come along for the ride. Plain buttermilk with nutella or this stuff:

Is incredible.

Load up your pancakes with chocolate chips, slice bananas and slather chocolate syrup on the final product and you have awesomeness.

Stir cinnamon + some ground nutmeg/clove into your pancake batter. Fucking awesome.

It's all in the speed with which pancakes get made. Your typical cake takes 45min-1hr to bake + the time spent icing and decorating it. Pancakes are done in 10 minutes.

pumpkin spice pancakes are freaking awesome. There's a breakfast house not far from where I live that makes them out of whole grain batter. It's like eating a pumpkin spice muffin in pancake form, with syrup.
