    Bug?

Hey. I run my pc on vista and today when I logged on, 2 files appeared on my desktop.
They actually appear in every folder on my laptop and this is first time this ever happened to me too. Anyone else have/had the same problem as me? How can I fix it?

    It looks like this:

    Thanks for help!

    Nice sig btw :D

I've had something similar happen, but with a safe website address that's harmless and my AV hasn't picked it up as harmful. Appears only in one place ever, and I also seem to have an extra hard drive appear, but not sure how to remove it.

    Haha Thanks!

Oh by the way I found a way to fix this, was just searching for it at google.
You go to folder> folder and search options > organize > View tab > show hidden files and folders ( recommended )
Then you check that box and those annoying files should be gone! Also check do not show hidden files and folders, because a lot of random folders that's supposed to be hidden appears if you don't check that.

Just saying it out there, if people have the problem in the future with this. :D

    Peace

Those files are more specifically known as desktop.ini; it stores specific information about a folder and how you have its view settings configured. So if your default is to view all folders in Thumbnail view, and you change it to Details, it generates desktop.ini in that folder and writes the new setting. Then when you return to the folder, it notices the desktop.ini and restores the settings configured in that file. The file can also store stuff like icon changes, or other cosmetic alterations that apply at a folder level instead of systemwide.

Not harmful in any way, but can also be deleted without fear; you just lose custom settings for whatever folder you deleted it from. If you just want to hide it, Seraphix's instructions are right on.
