Thanks to you guys, too. We (Americans) are not the only one who lost people and we couldn't have won WWI without you. Except Canada and France.
(just kidding Canada, WWI made you into men, and you're all grown up now. So beautiful. *sniff*)

I'm amazed more US conservatives haven't gotten on the Sarkozy bandwagon.. Though I suppose they probably see his style more as moderate Democratic, in our terms.
He's certainly an interesting character. And much less boring than Mitterand and Chirac were.
what the fuck was U.S during getting involved in WW1 anyway?
Fuck Wilson and Fuck you, hitler was all your fault.
Maybe because we were trading with most of Europe and we were getting fucked over by submarines and shit!
He was probably homeschooled and raised independent of the political machine, free from the influence of big brother and big corporation.
At least I know why and how U.S entered WW1, shit.
REMEMBER THE ALAMO
REMEMBER THE MAINE
REMEMBER 9/11
I think we were talking about why U.S entered WW1, not who started it.
But Kiro is on the right track, it was a virtual gangbang for money and power, and that tool Wilson didn't do anything about it. Talk about a lapdog for the elite.
There were lots of factions that wanted U.S to enter the fray.
Jews - wanted Ottaman Empire collapse.
Socialist - Wanted Bismarck out of the way
Bankers - Made lots of loans at ridiculous rates
Military and military industry - Got their permanent military and funds
Government - Got their first spy networks up and running, and used
massive propaganda campaigns to get US citizens to support the war.
Just look at the results, a war that was suppose to end all wars and bring peace and shit ended up expanding government powers, things like passports were introduced to restrict travel, fiat currency to control markets and provide almost unlimited funding to governments(giving them blank checks to war), arms race, military expansion and funding that still continues.
If U.S didn't enter the war, it would have very likely ended in a stale-mate as both sides were would have fought to mutual exhaustion. No Treaty of Versailles, no desperate and shamed germans, no Hitler.
Well you can't really make that argument, because any change would have led to something different happening. The US not getting involved does not necessarily have to be the only thing that would have stopped the "necessity" of a Nazi Germany. With that said, i somewhat agree about the fiat currency and the military complex bit, but some would say that they were inevitable.
true, I did speculate on the nazi germany rise. One thing is certain though, if there was a stale-mate like resolution to the war, 1930s germany would have looked A lot different.
I'm a bit surprised to hear you mention the inevitability part. Although I only hear it from socialists in praise, and from anarchists in morbid horror.
