Speculation: Blood of Bahamut

Since the news overflow about the next version update, I decided to make a speculation thread about new SQEX's game which could be the next FFXI add-on. If this thread doesn't belong in this forum section, please excuse me and feel free to move it in the appropriate place.

In the beginning of september (september 6th to be accurate), several gaming websites found out SQEX had registered a new trademark in North America: "Blood of Bahamut". Most people think it might be a new game from "Bahamut Lagoon" franchise (speculation about a PSP or DS game), others believe it'll be a totally new game or something related to "Final Fantasy" and a small community hopes it would be the next FFXI expansion.

Today, SQEX opened its official website with a countdown of five days. And guess what event takes place five days after the final countdown? Japan's vanaFest 2008 (nov. 22nd) following two weeks later by the Fan Festival. Coincidence?

Second hint would be its title: "Blood of Bahamut", same form as other expansions' titles.


Of course, there's 90% chance it won't be a new FFXI expansion since Bahamut doesn't look like the one from "Chains of Promathia" (its horns are different) but try to imagine, for a moment, adventuring in areas would be inside that colossus, it would be damn awesome.

Anyway, five days to go before we know the truth behind it...

while that picture of bahamut and the walking island looks fucking sweet, I highly doubt that this has anything to do with FFXI.

And I also hope that I am very wrong.

Addendum: If this were an expansion centered around Bahamut, wouldn't that create some issues with people who haven't completed CoP yet? *shrug*

Not with all the merchandising opportunities to be had with what they've already got.

This would be nice, if it pops you outside of the "battlefield" where you fight it. I can do Uninvited Guests every 5 days and not fucking farm a scale or camp the warp spot.

Se has been experimenting with new artists lately. We used to see the same guy who makes everyone so pale they're vampires for our updates and expansion covers(ironically he also drew my vampire hunter D novel illustrations) but lately we're seeing alot more art diversification.

Quite possible due to new artists.... no artist views the same item as...well, the same lol

I'm hoping for a new expansion, and if it creates loopholes for those who have yet to beat CoP.... WTF are you waiting for? Beat CoP already, its been watered down so people can beat it easily!
