ppl here are gonna want it to be an expac most of all, nothing odd about that. The splash page is also being discussed on other non-FFXI related forums. And not one person has brought up it being a FFXI expac on those forums lol

It'd be financial suicide to invest any more money into FFXI, they are being smart and maintaining it to milk the people that still play. Don't hold out for them to "totally fix" the game though or add anything significant besides an HNM here or a few updates there. I fully expect WoTG to be the last expansion given the nature of it's progression (released totally unfinished and even down to the core functionality, like campaign, updated extremely slowly).

It is much more likely a case that this is simply a new game, doubtful they'd do another MMO so closely akin to the FF universe though unless they were changing a lot from FFXI.

I'm sorry, but how would increasing subs by even 100k and making 1.3mil a month more be financial suicide?

And I guess you just recently joined the game too. When TOAU was added missions only went to 7, and there wasn't even a BC, just a bit of running around.

And what do you mean updated slowly? they did quite a few updates on campaign, and its now 'just right'. wtf else do you want them to do to it? its already pretty fucking complex (but lazy players don't understand that as they don't study the deeper details of the war system). Did you expect them to change their patch schedule that they've stuck to for so long just to do mini updates for campaign?

storyline wise, WOTG has more to it than TOAU did on its release (if you disagree, then you don't know anything about wotg). SE's not showing any kind of slowdown to me, honestly they are doing ALOT better than TOAU.

If you want FFXI to officially start dying so bad.... then consider it dead and go play WoW. FFXI is far from its end, especially with recent patches, and there is still a ton of regions to spawn new expansions on in the Vana'diel world.

i think the main reason SE did another fanfest this year is to announce the next expansion - giving it 1 yr of public development information would be a 2 year span between it and WOTG, which is normal for FFXI expansions being 1-2 years spanning apart.

Excuse me? Stop speculating on how you think SE runs their company, and posting what is virtually "lol dead game". This is an FFXI board to begin with. If you have a problem with it then you leave.

Definitely going to look into this, hope they go full online co-op with it though. Kinda reminds me of Monster Hunter on PSP. Developers need to stop gaying up games that could be that much more awesome if it were online.
