You're not Catholic if you voted for Barack Obama.

At least, that's what this priest claims:

    Source:
Priest: No communion for Obama voters - Faith

COLUMBIA, S.C. - A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil."The Rev. Jay Scott Newman said in a letter distributed Sunday to parishioners at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville that they are putting their souls at risk if they take Holy Communion before doing penance for their vote.
"Our nation has chosen for its chief executive the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate or to run for president," Newman wrote, referring to Obama by his full name, including his middle name of Hussein.

Eh, not really. A priest ordering people to abstain from communion is pretty much saying "you're no longer recognized as a Catholic", so the title isn't particularly misleading to the priest's position.

    That's right, it's the priest who's being misleading. There's a huge difference.

Joe Biden voted for Ralph Nader, obviously. That's why he's been so quiet.

Less sensational would be: South Carolinian Priest says etc.

Here's an article by another catholic about Obama (and specifically being pro-life): Frank Schaeffer: An Open Letter to President-Elect Obama About Abortion: From a Pro-Obama and Pro-Life Leader

Also, polls show that more than half of Catholics voted for Obama.

It's not that many Catholic voters and Catholic officials are all about ABORTION AND ONLY ABORTION but let's be accurate here.

But whatever, lol away at the idiot

I stopped receiving holy communion after they told me I couldn't approach the altar with a tiny cup of salsa.

I hate it when they say this like it is any kind of a big deal. Calling a man by his full name doesn't make you a bigot/racist/hatemongerer. Emphasizing the middle name to make an innuendo about him being Muslim/terrorist is in bad taste but if the man's middle name is Hussein then it isn't always wrong to use it.

What's funny is when you take a step back from religion you see how blatantly hypocritical most of Christianity turns out to be.

It's such a brilliant and wonderful concept, and yet people have to turn it into a pile of shit.

Many of the popes of the past sentenced people to death and excommunicated innocent people... not to mention war, pestilence... plenty of crimes. Guess they were okay to do that, but we can't elect a guy president of our country because his beliefs are slightly different than ours.

I need to find that e-mail where people take apart the bible's sins one by one and show the hypocrisy in them.

Yeah what is the big deal, right? We call all politicians by their full name with middle name included.

This is like that retarded reverend in North Carolina I think who kicked out members of his parish who were Kerry voters, that really ended well for him.

Don't really understand his reasoning. Abortion is a mortal sin, but the line becomes gray when discussing the notion of supporting abortion without actually engaging in the act. Regardless, engaging in a mortal sin is not synonymous with being excommunicated; the former guarantees Hell unless formally confessed, the latter is an expulsion of sorts from the Catholic church.

So even as a Catholic (technically), I don't agree (although I haven't been to church in a decade).

Weren't there churches that said that they'd refuse to offer Kerry communion since he's pro-choice?

I think when it come to Abortion and Bible, it is OK for God to Abort babies or ask for them to be killed, but it is not OK for people to do this without God's approval.

Tell me about it, it's hard to have faith in people sometimes.
