I really think "pro-life" should be renamed "anti-abortion". IMO, voting for someone that believes health care is a right to every American is a pro-life vote.

I always wondered how "pro-life" voters can defend their conservative vote and still claim to be pro-life. Say for instance, a baby was just born into this world to a family that can't afford proper health care, baby gets horribly sick, parents can't afford treatment, baby dies. Or say, family has sub-par health care because that is all they can afford, their child needs a transplant operation that they can't afford, kid dies.

This is what safe haven laws are for in my opinion, which the majority of states have (and Nebraska needs to revise lol, abandoning 17 year olds). The question then becomes: is it better to die or become a ward of the state? I'd like to think the latter.

Subject gets more complicated with many issues, and since I consider myself to be a cross between a Republican and a Libertarian, I remain pro-choice. A lot of people who claim to be pro-life, if their 16 year old daughters or young girlfriends got pregnant, you'd see a whole lot flip-flop like a rainbow trout. That said, if you get pregnant from a bout of casual unprotected sex and are perfectly capable of raising a child and you still opt for an abortion, that's pretty lame.

The only political message I heard in church the last several weeks was "Go out and vote!" which I have absolutely no problem with. I would assume that assclowns like this are in the minority, or at least I hope so.

I'm also annoyed when an election is decided for some people by the single 'right to life' issue. More children in the world die from war/hunger/idiocy than abortion...

You sound like my pastor now. He used to always say "Don't make this too spiritual. It's an election, look at the issues and vote based on them". He hated when people would try to use God as justification for who they voted for or when people would say "pray that God will tell you who to vote for". Though he was an Obama supporter, you would have never known unless you talked to him outside of church. He wasn't trying to influence people in one direction or another.

My pastor also happens to be pro life.
