I still can't figure out why they are sending ppl to Asura, I came from Fenrir and there are less people there than on Asura. GO TO FENNY!
They did this on Odin back in 05.
And here I thought that Sylph was a backwater server with it's 1200 people on during most hours, but yet it's not on the list. Or... Square's reasoning for sending people to these servers is completely random.
Let's take a look at the list of eligible destination servers:
I think I have an idea why they picked these particular servers as the destination. Take a look at the cross-server price history on Brave Grip:-Pandemonium World
-Garuda World
-Kujata World
-Seraph World
-Lakshmi World
-Asura World
-Midgardsormr World
-Fairy World
-Remora World
-Hades World
The servers with sky-high prices on this item happen to be:
Brave Grip - Bahamut - FFXIAH.com
Asura *
Fairy *
Garuda *
Hades *
Kujata *
Midgardsormr *
Pandemonium *
Quetzalcoatl
Ragnarok
Remora *
Seraph *
Likewise, the list of servers with high prices on Wise Strap:
Wise Strap - Bahamut - FFXIAH.com
Asura *
Fairy *
Garuda *
Hades *
Kujata *
Midgardsormr *
Pandemonium *
Quetzalcoatl
Ragnarok
Remora *
Seraph *
These two items commonly drop from any of the 3 SCNM battles. As such, the price on servers who have had access to these fights has dropped to trivial levels. On other servers, the only source of the items has been transfers. Other SCNM items are rarer or more desirable, and so the price patterns aren't as dramatic (because demand on the source server hasn't been saturated, or because they're so expensive they're frequently bazaared).
I've marked the servers on the transfer list with an asterisk. The list doesn't match up exactly -- Quetzalcoatl and Ragnarok show up on the price lists, while Lakshmi does not.
However, there's a close enough match to suggest there is some connection through a third variable. I'm guessing the servers that tend to win Campaign SCNMs are the servers with larger or more organized players in general, and specifically Japanese player populations (who seem to be really into campaign, and are especially important in the final hours before conquest tally).

Come to Lakshmi.
New faces are always welcome.
lol
Hahahahah, Hades.![]()
I could have sworn I saw an official announcement about it, but looking back through the archives all I can find are a LOT of "Odin world login difficulties". If I had a spare content ID I'd try to create a new character on Odin and see if it's possible, but I don't. Actually come to think of it new character creation can't have been disabled on Odin, otherwise we would have noticed a major drop in RMT activity there since they go through characters like toilet paper. So I guess I just misremembered.
fuck no, we've had more transfers TO odin the last few days than ever :/
Ashi and I are in limbo right now. Took us about 20 minutes of spamming Runic Portal to get into Nyzul.
Just finished nyzul and instead of throwing us out we all got the black screen. It's weird - items still distributing, cant still move compass around, and music still playing.
<3<3 Odin
I have been able to send people to that sort of limbo area, I did it to Iceblazek a few times, just drop a retrace on them so it happens right after their warp animation goes off.
If they crash their game and come back it works fine, and it only happens to people with whitegate homepoints.
<3 garuda, these ppl here dont know how nice they have it compared to Hades.
and omg, tell Zven to migrate and exp w/me! Zenga says hi again lol
*chloroforms Kaeko, stuffs a burlap sac over his head and drags him off to Asura on a sled*
lets shutdown all other servers and merge them into Odin ! :D
Seems like they just picked most of the servers with low population. At least quite a few in that list have a reputation of being "dead"...
If they removed it, wouldn't they leave the option available for people who already have a character there? That would make sense...
EDIT: maybe it's not completely reliable, but this event SE made gave a rough indicator of what server has a big population or not.

You can see that servers like Remora or Hades only have about half of Odin's entries. But of course it could also be that people just happened to not enter the event, and the stats are one year old...
