If its a tile builder I forsee it being just a large blank room (dat wise) then there are various models of "layout" (such as tunnels, corridors, other geometry) which you place. They each have their own complex clipping plane and are a dynamic spawn. Thus you could have customization via instance.
It's interesting if it is, because that would be the first time they add a new map midway through an expansion pack afaik, that wasnt in the .dat already (like xarc S, beau S..etc) .

It'll probably be Everbloom Hollow/Ruhotz Silvermines/Ghoyu's Reverie since they each have 18 maps so you'll get to "connect" them or something like that.

That line is in parenthesis, which usually means fine-print in these kinda things; stuff a person is legally obligated to tell you about, but they would want to down-play for their own ends. I dunno, I'm just naturally suspicious of poorly detailed things.

    What, again? Ok.
No, not everything is theorycrafting, since there would be nothing on which to theorize unless we had some basic facts. I wont pretend I didn't take part in a bit myself, but my point to YOU was that your assertions went beyond the realm of known information (EX: 'There might be ETs.' vs. 'We're going to die soon, because the aliens are coming.').

This event causing gil-buying that dumps a lot of money into the economy assumes a lot, since it first requires that the dungeons be expensive enough to necessitate 1m+ in gil. Then, since I think we can all agree if any large cash dump is going to occur, it's all going to an NPC, there would have to be significant overflow gil for any gil-bought cash to affect the economy. Lastly, the general population would have to be unable to pay whatever is charged or unwilling to work for it within the game.

So, dungeons would have to be in the order of a few million (which is roughly the same price as a PCC), people would have to buy at least twice as much as that, and people would have to be too poor and/or lazy to even try making it normally....Even my poor ass could crap out 1m if I was a little less attached to some of my shit and were more serious about mining.

Your inability to understand what I mean is neither my fault nor problem, but I would suggest you not echo my terminology without giving it a bit of thought.

Probably. The first picture with the map make it look more "blocky" , but the 2nd one does look like a mine. There is no way they will use every map with campaigns ops, so I guess it would make some sense for them to use those 3 areas.

If they do intend to charge player gil to create a maze, this just gives gil buyrs more incentive to do so.

Well, there are a few unused areas in the dat files, like the chocobo forrest and one with a train, but I am not sure if these areas contain topography information and do not have official names associated with them. There is also a zone called the Last Stand that could always be given the Lower Promyvion/Ou'Hpat Obelisk treatment. (Renamed into a different zone, but I have no idea what it looks like.) Although, if they did make a downloaded zone, that would be pretty nifty. (Except on the day that everyone is trying to download it...)

No matter what, this does appear like it will be interesting, at least from a technical stand-point...

Just as a note, the areas that were mapped as Nyzul Isle never actually appeared, I believe they are still unused maps. The areas that are currently used as Nyzul Isle were not in the maps before it was released. Meaning that since this area is not going to have a map, it doesn't necessarily have to exist in the dats before it is introduced.

I always hoped that once, just once, one of those kids would have freaked out and punched one of the temple guards, or kneed him in the groin.

Ah, the joys of -not- being broadcast live. I understand at least in one case, a kid got spooked so bad he pissed himself. But you can bet THAT footage got sent to the cutting room floor.

    ----

In any case, I can think of one way to make mazes even more popular.

Have a small chance (per MAZE, not per monster) to randomly replace one of the monsters in it with a MNM (Maze Notorious Monster). Likewise, a treasure chest or coffer (for a fraction of the dungeon cost).

Nothing like popping into your colbiri pen to find the moblins secretly replaced one of your birdies with a NM manticore! Let's see if the adventurers notice...

I doubt you can pick exactly what monsters you want to appear where. There will probably be a preset of about 10 different themes (spooky dungeon with skeletons, ghosts etc) and you kinda just pick the rooms and if a few/many mobs will be there.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before somewhere, but somehow I forsee the whole thing to be Mog House decorating 2.0.

Preset items in a preset inventory that you can select and drag around and rotate to make your maze, just instead of that cute snowman, you get walls and crap.

It would be nice if anyone going to the fanfest could figure out if there are any ways to make charmable mobs in the dungeons.

If campaign didn't pull enough people away from Whitegate to start losing Besieges en-mass, this certainly won't. Especially with the addition of a direct warp from Jeuno to Whitegate being added.

While I disagree with this, I won't say it can't happen. However, it's most likely a zone already in the dats, but that just doesn't have a map of any kind.

We do have basic information to base the theorycrafting on. And part of that basic information that we know of is to help suppliment and alieviate the costs of initially building a custom maze, the owners (creators, designers, PLAYERS WHO MAKE IT) can *charge other players* money to get into the dungeon. See, that is theorycrafting based on what information we were given.

    However this:

This event causing gil-buying that dumps a lot of money into the economy assumes a lot, since it first requires that the dungeons be expensive enough to necessitate 1m+ in gil. Then, since I think we can all agree if any large cash dump is going to occur, it's all going to an NPC, there would have to be significant overflow gil for any gil-bought cash to affect the economy. Is theory crafting based on ideas you pulled from no where. Where was it mentioned that anything would cost millions? They just lowered the price of Dynamis, something people pool money to get into. You think they'll make a completely customizable event that costs FAR more money to get into then Dynamis ever did? I'm not saying people won't have to throw money into the NPC void to build these things, I'm just saying the PLAYERS will get that money back from other PLAYERS who wish to try out each other's creations.

Your inability to understand what I mean is neither my fault nor problem, but I would suggest you not echo my terminology without giving it a bit of thought.
You complained about "theorycrafting" (based on actual info we were given) in a topic that is nothing but theorycrafting. Speculation topics have speculations.

This is actually a good idea imo. Probably won't happen, but it would be cool if it did.

From what I saw, that seems to be the prevailing theory as to how things will be made. The instancing of Moghouses, combined with their customizability in addition to the relatively new ability to allow others to join you is a great template to base this on. It's mainly the way mobs will be selected and placed and how rewards will be gained and distributed that are the biggest mysteries. Imo at least.

True, if you could I'd fill my maze with some of the harder to get spells for Blue Mages and charge them 50K/run to attempt to learn them xD

Maybe 200K for a BRD/THF Aern only zone for BLUs who don't have sea?

I think the only zones left in the dats that are like that (map-less) are the Throne Room [S] and the Walk of Echoes.
