You don't sneak into someones private sections and PMs on the forums though, regardless of this being a game, or it being harmless. It was a place HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN.

You don't go and apply for a job, not hear back from them, then attempt to sneak into their offices and browse through their folders, right? Then what gives you a god given right to log onto someone elses account, go into an area you're not suppose to have access to, and do that same thing?

And, KNOWING he had access to a forums account, sadly enough, some people out there DO USE the same passwords sometimes between, oh, I dunno, Forums, Emails, Paypals, w/e else you can have.

Sure, no harm was done, but what if it was. You can't just hum and ha that "Oh, he didn't actually -do- anything, so no harm was done." That's like turning a blind eye and pretending you didn't see shit.

So sorry, I disagree with you. Cause I was an admin to a forums, and I certainly know what it's like dealing with impudent little shits who do shit they shouldn't. You have to treat everything like it is something big.

And about posting IP Address. If ANY hacker is worth anything, they can find that out without requiring the aid of looking in this thread

It also doesn't explain all the attempts at logging into other peoples' accounts once we disabled the one we found you accessing. Or why you were accessing prior to your app in the first place. The point isn't whether or not you hacked the passwords or someone simply gave them to you. The point is you had a list of passwords and you were making unauthorized accesses to our forums for at least a month an a half. It doesn't matter what you did with that access, the fact that you accessed a private forum using someone else's information without their consent is enough to warrant this warning. If you had been given the information directly by the account holders, then they would be just as guilty as you are now. If it's as you say though and you were given the list of passwords by Zlavnich, let's add him to the warning as well.

So as it stands:
Zlavnich: Farms passwords (and who knows what else?) from accounts on forums he has administrative access to and gives them out at his discretion (highest bidder?).
Otige: Accepts password list he knows he has no right to, and uses that information to illicitly access other peoples' forum accounts and the information they have access to.
Nasse: At least admits to being given privileged forum post information and chooses to directly approach linkshell members about the content of those posts.

Oh good god. Did I say what he did was right? No. Did I say that people shouldn't be warned about it if that's what's going on? No. I also didn't say that you couldn't find out peoples IP addys. But this just makes it that much easier. I also said I don't know -what- he did. Because if you believe everything everyone says about people, then no one would be worth a damn in anyone's eyes. You included. So saying he did something wrong and showing he did something wrong are two different things. I'm not saying O is the be all end all guy. But neither are you or anyone else on here. We all f**k up. We all make mistakes. So instead of jumping at any chance to throw mud, which we all know that's what KI is about, a drama infested place, then they should have jumped -HIS- ass first. Posted a warning about what happened but not all his business and be done with it.

And as I've said before, posting -anything- on a forum about personal information or using the same password, (just now saying the same password part) is retarded. Simply because of the hackings that have gone on. Everyone saw the shit with somepage. O didn't take anything. O didn't hack someone's FFXI account. He didn't hack someone's Paypal. So you're way over exaggerating that point. He got onto forums. Was it a smart thing to do? Nope. Should he have? Definitely not. But should he be tarred and feathered? Umm.. no. Once again, he didn't really -do- anything. And I can pretty much guarantee there have been plenty of people that used their friend's account to check something that was being said. So is O the first person to do this? More than likely, no. But I love how it's a huge deal now. Especially when so many others have done far worse. Sigh, this is stupid.



Edit: Xanthe, I can see why you're pissed. I completely understand that. If anyone did it to my forums I would be as well. My points above are mostly because I think other's are making this a lot worse than it is. I'm not saying that you or your forum admins are wrong for how they feel. I just think too much info was given out. Especially to the wrong people. No matter -who- did it, I do agree that people should be warned about possible hackers, (O not taking a dig at you, cause frankly I'm not bringing out my feelings about anyone in these posts). Please do not believe that I am trying to write you or your admin leaders off, Xanthe. I just think everyone else is blowing this way out of proportion. Furthermore, they were right to throw up a red flag. This could have been anything until they got to the bottom of this. if If he was in one forum system somehow, he could have been in all of them. This was one person telling the rest of us admins on other forums systems to get into CYA mode.

The fact that he had to go into a forum system he shouldn't have had access to in the first place is bad enough. And from the sounds of it, it looks like he went poking around other places besides his application and could have done damage. Yeah, real smart. For those of us who are worried about our system now, his IP is fair game.
