could any Holy Pally leave some feedback on mana post 3.1?
I'm wondering if to enchant some mp5 or still going the old way
Very little changed that would affect Holy's insane mana efficiency. The only thing they got hit with is the homogenization of Blessing of Wisdom and Mana Spring (which should've happened a very long time ago). The main changes occurred with spirit which will only having an immediate effect on Priests and Druids.
Put INT gems in everything, retain 4pc T7 and your Libram and keep on truckin'.
I actually just started playing again, and decided to make a ret pally. What's a good spec for 3.1?
I'm surprised you ask looking at the tree. Retribution is a joke of a spec now, you can just smash your face into the keyboard and make it work. Once you get everything you need for PvE, you'll have FOURTEEN points to put wherever the hell you want.
Here is your base, build off of that.
Not even that. Improved BoW still stacks with Improved Mana Spring (the same works for the non-improved versions, but you can't stack Improved Mana Spring with normal BoW).
It's bugged. It'll be fixed I'm sure, but until then, keep on casting those wisdoms.
Shaman and Paladin were essentially buffed this patch until this bug is fixed (buffed as in the other two healing classes were nerfed, but not us).
And Ret just got better, not worse like people expected. It's funny, really.![]()
I have Imp.BoW but yesterday it wouldnt stack with the totem, my buff didnt even bother showing.Improved BoW still stacks with Improved Mana Spring
anyway, got Valorous chest and I was thinking of using it for my holy spec, so I'm wondering should I gem +INT on both the blue and red socket and forget about the Haste bonus?
Stoooopppp!
If you have any other spec you can use the body token for, do it. The body is one of the two pieces with wasted itemization (mp5) and a better alternative that's not overly difficult. If you want the 4/5 piece bonus, skip the body.
Chivalric Chestguard - Item - World of Warcraft <- Naxx10, Anub'Rekhan.
Chestplate of the Great Aspects - Item - World of Warcraft <- OS25, no drakes required.
Both are marginally better and don't require wasting a tier 7.5 token. If you don't have another spec to use it on, I guess holy isn't horrible, but the above items aren't overly difficult to get.
Also, Haste is good; a lot of Paladins seem to ignore it but you don't top the healing charts (which don't matter but in effect you're healing better when your heals land faster) without a lot of haste.
I noticed the chest piece wasnt exactly sweet, but I already have tier7 chest for Retri, and just a lame epic pvp chest for Holy, so I considered that a much better improvement...
Yes, there are better pieces but they could drop for me in a week or in a month sooo, shoud I got for the Holy Valor piece anyway?
On the gems topic, I wanted to keep the Haste bonus but it'd force me to use Blue and Red gems which are.. quite terrible, so I really dont know.
I'd say at least give os25 1 pug to see if it drops, might as well.
I'd say this. It's Tuesday anyway, so when the servers come back up everything is reset. PUG it or do a guild run of it today if you can, and if it doesn't drop, turn in the token.
As for gemming, just do Int x2 if you do turn it in. The bonus isn't worth filling out both a red and a blue, unless you can use those sockets as your meta fillers and change the other sockets around. At the very least, if it was only red you could put a SP/Int gem in there, but doing SP/Int and Int/Stam makes the 6 rating more detrimental than helpful.
Haste is good, but there are limits. lol
I'm quite unsure about a glyph choice:
should I keep Divinity or try Holy Shock one?
Sure, Divinity grants me a lot more mana but I rarely have huge mana issues, while I often find myself in need of a quick HS only to find it still on cooldown. Also, given the sinergy between HS and the sequent FoL/HL, lowering it's recast wouldnt improve my heals overall?
From what i read, the general consensus is for Divinity, but i was wondering if anyone tried the HS one out
Divinity was a good option pre-patch. Holy Shock and Beacon of Light are both better options, depending on whether you need mana efficiency/forget about recasting BoL, or more frequent save-heals.
I haven't decided which one to use yet. I actually preferred Flash of Light's glyph over Divinity before the patch, so that's the one that'll get replaced.
I wouldn't bother with the Beacon of Light glyph. Yeah, it's nice but Beacon is so situational that it seems pretty silly to use up a glyph slot on it. I current have Flash of Light Glyph in the third expendable slot and I too have thought about changing it over to the Holy Shock one. What holds me back is the fact that I generally use Holy Shock and immediately follow it up with the Infusion of Light Flash of Light. In that situation, the extra 5% chance to have what is likely going to be a crucial heal crit is something I'm weary of losing. I'm not sure if any convoluted math can back up which one is better, it's down to play style and the fight I guess.
That's pretty much exactly why I haven't changed my glyphs yet. The BoL glyph is nice for several Naxx fights if BoL is used properly, but on the fight I find BoL most useful (Sapphiron), I'm finding myself recasting it every time he flies up, which is barely over a minute or something? Basically when my BoL falls Sapph seems to fly. The extra 30 seconds would be wasted time.
I haven't done Ulduar yet, so I don't know if a GCD used on recasting BoL is bad or not, but I was thinking since Ulduar reportedly has very high damage coming on the raid/tanks, that lower CD Holy Shock might be more useful. I'm not sure I'll get much of a chance to cast something as weak as FoL.
I think I'll save the glyph change decision until after I can try out Ulduar.
I'm inclined toward the Holy Shock one these days.
The lowered cooldown also helps me a lot doing HS > FoL > FoL and then immediately HS again, instead of waiting that 1 second more.
