BLM: Sorcerer's Ring Yellow HP Macro

So I just bought a Sorcerer's Ring and I'm about a level 56 BLM. So now I'm trying to make a yellow HP macro so I can put this thing to work. I know for it to really work I have to be around level 58 or 60, but I was just wondering in advance what could help me get to 75% HP around level 60, and things beyond that, but before Zenith.

These are the things I have so far:
    Tiphia Sting (-25 HP)
    Empress Hairpin (-15 HP)
    Star Necklace (-15 HP)
    Astral Earring (-25 HP)
    Black Cotehardie (-25 HP)
    Serket Ring (-50 HP)
    Ether Ring (-30 HP)
    Bellicose Mantle (-10 HP)
    Penitent's Rope (-20 HP)

That put me to about -215 HP which should get me to yellow HP at level 60 (I'm a hume). I'm worried about the levels after that and if i can maintain a macro that gets me into yellow untill Zenith at 73.

So, am I missing any gear that gives -HP or are there any improvements I could make?

Thanks if you looked at this thread and help me out.

I don't think there's much else, you're probably stuck with getting hit a couple times

Astral shield lvl 58, expensive, but can use with that club above, blue cape +1 at 68.

note- you don't need yellow HP to make it work if you have "convert HP to MP" gear. Not sure about that level, but at later levels its extremely possible.

oh and asklepios is great- and a relatively easy camp.

Do yourself a favor, sell the ring and all the extra HP- gear you got, and spend all that gil on proper BLM gear, and hMP gear. You'lle be better off in an xp pt. Sorcerer's Ring is just luxury.

This. The most useful thing you can do at your level is get hq elemental staves and anything you don't have that maxes int & elemental skill. If you're capped on what you can do there, fine, go for the sorc ring, but realize that until you get into the low 70's at least, preferably 75 with elemental magic skill merits, your biggest problem will be avoiding resists. At your level I might even prefer a +3/+4 INT ring over the sorc ring if you don't have merits. With that said, if you have 75 in another job and can merit elemental magic skill a few times you will have significantly more success and can scrape by with MAB-only items like the sorc ring.

Aside from assuming he doesn't have proper other gear, int ring vs sorc? Really? By that logic, you should be using morion+1 instead of moldavite.. use the sorcerer's. HQ staffs and the lack of zenith mitts forcing AF hands until 73 are more than adequate for m.acc >_>

Only semi-problem with Sorcerer's before 68 is if you're subbing RDM, (doubt /WHM, since Regen is hella gay) is that all you have is Blink to save you, and you'll already have yellow HP, so decent chance of getting like 1 shotted.

I'd be inclined to go for Ele skrill or Magic Accuracy in the lower levels, just because resists are pretty high.

Int Ring vs Sorc Ring does NOT equal INT vs. Magic Attack. This equals INT vs Yellow HP and Magic Attack Bonus. I would go with the INT because having Yellow HP for Magic Attack Bonus is purely luxury, plus why would you ever want Yellow HP? I will never understand Sorc Ring

I prefer not to use S. Ring. Dead BLMs do no damage. It is quite fun to see BLMs drop on a counter cast from the enemy mob after they draw hate though.

    And no inventory space

Well of course use Sorcerer's Ring when you hit the 70's lol, 10 Magic Attack Bonus >> 5 INT. Novio is worth 20 mil, and it only gives 7 MAB, no reason to turn down 10 when all you have to do is macro out <200 HP (as Taru at least, just keep SS/Blink and maybe Phalanx up and you'll be fine). Really makes a noticeable difference in damage.

Well, I have elemental magic merits, HQ staves, Elemental magic gear(Shaman's, AH hands, can buy elemental earring) and also a 75 RDM PL that can help me if I'm dying.

My goal, however, is trying to 1 shot things.

If 200 or so HP is constantly meaning the difference between life and death, I really think which ring you use is the least of your worries. Learn to stand at proper range, cap stoneskin, and don't pull hate if your death will matter.

A guaranteed way to never die is to parse dead last.

Those of you commenting about "being a benefit to your exp party" must have leveled BLM 2+ years ago. Having leveled it from 60+ less than a year ago, that realm (and honestly, much sooner) is a strictly solo life for BLMs until you hit 72+ and can join manaburns for those last couple levels.

I'd wager a hefty sum that he's prepping for soloing bats in Newton Movapolis where the only way to oneshot mobs any more is with HQ staves, good INT food, and a proccing Sorcerer's Ring.

A word of advice on those- You can kill them in two shots quite easily if you can manage the pulls and you go /NIN. 3 shadows is plenty enough with the gear you mention to pull with one nuke, and smack the bat with a second before he eats up your shadows.

I had to check the date on this thread, I could have sworn it was 2005 up in here.

Well, it's definitely a different world now. And if leveling blm means 1- or 2-shotting mobs, then by all means, go for it, especially if you have the gear and elemental skill merits to compensate. I guess I'll just never forget the endless hours of riding the hate line, magic bursting, stunning gobbie bombs, and pissing off my tank. Good times.

I wore a pigeon earring and the RSE body for +hp while nuking. I think that was enough to get the latent working.
