450 miner (Basin wins here), 420 JC.

For frostweave, hit any of the "battleground" areas where monsters spawn fast and furious and frequently bunch up to be AoE'd to death. The walrusman village with the constant raids is good in Borean. So's the cave near the gnome airstrip, same zone- there's a room at the bottom that'll respawn VERY fast for about 15 minutes or so. Hose down stuff till your packs are full of loot, dash off to sell the vendor stuff, duck back down there later. The Crimson Onslaught camps aren't bad either.

Mining, the Basin works nicely- it's the Un'Goro of Wrath expansion. Just expect a lot of competition, on the ground or in the air. Just going to have to keep plugging away for an epic flyer of my own...though I've learned a lot of the ground routes, and there's mining points there that can be found that circling the outer areas often miss. Saronite fuels my prospecting which skills my jewelcrafting so life's good.

Eu wow is down atm but I'm pretty sure you get +114ap enchant on bracers with an option for stam and spell power also. I'll double check when the servers come back up.

I was wondering what each profession does in terms benefits.

I know skinning has crit + and mining has + hp are there any other ones that do stuff like that?

The herbalism regen won't really save you if you're a tank and you're looking for another button to press before the boss kills you. Tanks will probably be happier just sticking with whatever professions they currently have rather than switching to herbalism.

Have any scribes tried the new Darkmoon cards to make a profit? I'm curious to know if they're worth making or not, getting the mats for cards is a bitch.

The enchant is 114ap, yes, but the total over the regular bracer enchant is only +64, which is the same benefit over any other that the other professions have.

    Specifically....

    Enchanting Bracers = 50, Leatherworking gives 114, 64ap difference.
    Enchanting Rings = 32ap each, 64 total.
Flask enhancement from Alch, 64 total.

    etc.

All professions come to the almost the SAME identical boost for your personal stats via self boost... only ones that have more potential are JC and BS since BS adds 2 sockets that don't necessarily have to be AP, and JC has different gems to use.

If you are DPS, it does not matter which profession you are as far as self boost bop's go. The other benefits matter i.e. future bop's from profession only (like if some spellfire or ebon were to come out).

The only profession that has a higher self boost would be Herbalism, since the consumables (think firebloom) if used every single cooldown come out to like 66.7ap instead of 64ap... but that's pretty difficult to do efficiently for a long period of time.

Here is a list of all profession boosts so far, until they add things like spellfire/ebon if they even do that at all:

    Stat Comparisons (between professions):

    Tanking:
    - Mining = 500 HP
    - Alchemy = 320 HP (Flask of Stoneblood)
    - Enchanting = 48 STA
    - Jewelcrafting = 33 STA
--- Jewelcrafting = 48 STA (counts avoiding using a red gem instead of a blue for meta requirements)
    - Blacksmithing = 60 STA or 40 Def or 40 Dodge
    - Leatherworking = 74 STA
    - Inscription = 32 Dodge Rating

    Physical DPS:
    - Herbalism = 66.7AP (average, requires consumables)
    - Skinning = 25 Crit rating
    - Alchemy = 64 AP (Flask of Endless Rage)
    - Enchanting = 64 AP
    - Jewelcrafting = 42 AP or 21 AGI or 21 STR or 21 Crit Rating or 21 Haste Rating or 21 Hit Rating or 177 ArPen
--- Jewelcrafting = 62 AP or 31 AGI or 31 STR etc. (counts avoiding using a blue gem instead of a red for meta requirements)
    - Blacksmithing = 80 AP or 40 AGI or 40 STR or 40 Crit Rating or 40 Haste Rating or 40 Hit Rating or 280 ArPen
    - Leatherworking = 64 AP
    - Inscription = 64 AP

    Caster DPS / Healing:
    - Herbalism = 33.3SP (average, requires consumables)
    - Skinning = 25 Crit rating
    - Alchemy = 37 SP (Flask of the Frost Wyrm) OR 13 MP5 (Flask of Pure Mojo)
    - Enchanting = 38 SP
    - Jewelcrafting = 27 SP or 21 Crit Rating or 21 Haste Rating or 21 Hit Rating or 9 MP5
--- Jewelcrafting = 49 SP (counts avoiding using 2 blue gems instead of 2 red gems for meta requirements)
    - Blacksmithing = 46 SP or 21 Crit Rating or 21 Haste Rating or 21 Hit Rating or 16 MP5
    - Leatherworking = 37 SP
    - Inscription = 36 SP
I've spent a retarded amount of money recently on my rogue, so I'll probably pick up mining and mine/skin for money for a while, and eventually drop skinning for maybe ENG. The 25crit rating I guess is nice on rogue, and a 64ap boost from another professions seems nice as well, but since I'm no longer hardcore raiding sunwell and BT and instead casually raiding (haven't even done naxx 10man yet) I don't really care for the boosts... so Mining for moneys and ENG for a mount and mote farming is probably what i'll do... plus I think my next 80 will be a hunter, which I'm most likely going to enjoy more than rogue, and will probably want the bonuses on him... Herb/Alch prob there.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Tailoring has a few things. Swordguard embroidery gives 300AP for 15 sec. 1ppm which gets to an average of 75AP overall. Darkglow and Lightweave are also back chants that are tailor only.

Tailoring also gets the cheap epic leg spellpower (and your choice of stam/spirit) enchants that are self only and dont cost 8 eternals and a frozen orb.

Chaos/Prisms/Undeath probably won't make you much money. They only sell for ~300-400 per card on Kilrogg. Noble's cards...well, set your price, someone will buy it.

It's like playing FFXI again! Pray for that HQ synth and sell the other shit for a loss!

Alright, so my main has Mining/Eng.

Eng has basically no benefit to me (already replaced my goggles) but I don't want to drop it because I'm stubborn and like making noise with my helicopter.

I have a 70 Paladin alt with Skinning/Herbalism that I can level and use as a farming alt (which is good because Crusader Aura's nice for that shit). I'm thinking of dropping Mining, replacing Skinning on my alt with Mining (so it would be Mining/Herbalism), then leveling Alchemy on my main so I can be lazy with 4 hour flasks.

    Thoughts?

Flasks are worth more than just being 4hours long and being lazy, they add more bonus to the stat you are buffing, so having that on your main would be great. AP flask gives 64ap more if you are the alchemist for example. Pick up another profession with a good self buff (like lw, jc, bs, ench, inscrip) since it's your main and get 2x benefits, for ap it's another 64ap lol. Read my post up a few posts to see the majority of the benefits, there is more in-detail list I can send you too, or post here but it's long.

I'm noticing skinning is only -so- good of a gatherer, most leathers aren't worth too much since the overabundance, except for like arctic furs which are kinda rare... not to mention you have to kill a mob in order to skin it, which takes time... Mining with Eng is a pretty good farmer, due to clouds and such... Mining/herb isn't too bad if you can macro the tracker swapping.

But for a main, if you raid on it, there is no reason not to have 2x professions if you can come up with money without a gatherer on that character. 2x BOP/Self buff's is win... I.E. 2 on my rogue would give me 128ap more that I have currently.

What class is your main? Also take into consideration possible future additions to professions. Like there used to be BOP armor/weapons, and I don't see why they wouldn't add more in the future for more moneysinks.

The embroideries are trash. Spellpower chant to legs is win.

No one wants them! I haven't blown tokens on a a green gem cut yet, but from monitoring forest emerald cuts, it seems like none of them sell well. @700+ gold per design, I'm curious if it's worth grabbing a design or if these shit gems are better off just horded or sold at auction for 3g to some sap that wants to get some cheap skill ups.

It's difficult to imagine a forest emerald cut out there that would return the ~750 gold it takes to learn in any reasonable period of time. I'm curious to what JCs do with forest emeralds.

Active JCs would have likely understood my original question.
