Lack of a better earring? How about merman's? Or maybe even coral? I'm quite sure 6 attack is more than the 2STR will give you on a hit by hit basis. I think it's rather bold that you state that your COR is geared better than 90% of the people. (By the way... "the people"? Seriously..) All it would take is a COR with 9,000 gil to be geared better than you, and purchase a coral earring. I, for one, used to melee on COR a lot, and I use suppano/Brutal. However, I continuously was requested to be /WHM in merits and so I basically sold my melee gear and stopped using it. You talk a lot of trash for someone that can't back it up.

In merits, there's two things that Corsairs (In my experience) do, and that's use rolls, and cure if needed. I guess they can pull also, but I've never found a bard that refused to do it. If your 3 melee need the help of a Corsair in killing mobs that badly, it's time to find a new party. I can understand a red mage needed a few extra cures to help them out every now and then. Shit happens, and that's why a 2nd healer is pretty convenient. The only gear I know of that effects rolls is relic hat, which I don't have, (Of course Luzaf's ring) so I see no need to change gear to do that. Cures? Really? Do you really think a Corsair is going to macro in any gear for cures, besides perhaps a light staff? You attack my gear setup as if I care what I wear.

You're right, there is potential for Corsair, but no one really cares about it. There's potential for bard and red mage melee as well. Who really gives a fuck? Get real damage dealers if you're that desperate to kill something. I could have been naked for all they cared, as long as I used rolls, woke the brd or rdm and erased every now and then. The only reason I had a joyeuse equipped was because I was bored out of my mind from not having cures, so I decided to swing my sword out of boredom. I didn't bring melee gear, because I generally don't when I sub white mage. I guess basically it comes down to not caring, because it doesn't matter. Some people who think COR is the best job on the planet will disagree, but when my party gets 25-26k an hour and I'm /BLM using a joyeuse to melee in mage gear... who really gives a fuck?

A well-geared and well-merited COR can throw out 1k+ Slugs easy in merit to speed up kills. A well-geared and well-merited COR can do over 20% of Tiamat's HP in an hour with Quick Draw. Does the party need them to do it? Of course not. Rolls are the most important asset we have. But proposing that you can just halfass the job and sub WHM all the time just shows you deserve to be one of the people posted here in a screenshot. Doing the bare minimum as a COR is just mediocrity, and as much as Jornna does have problems with gear, you have no place to make a comment.

People gave me shit for the longest time in merit pts because I refused to sub sam instead of whm on drg. >_>

People were dumb. The only healing you need is DNC. Plus, it makes life so much easier as a pulling brd, only have to cast one set of songs!

Edit: Hurf I misread durf.

There's really no need to sub whm, unless you had no healer. There's nothing wrong with a Drg/whm healer, but really, it's superfluous with a DNC main heal.

Yeah you're right for the most part. I mainly sub whm because I stopped trusting mages in pickups to cure me when I'm the one pulling hate a lot because I'm usually stuck with subpar 300 Spinning Slash DRKs or SAMs who think Domaru is the most awesome piece of gear ever.

Not trying to boost my own ego but more often then not I've had really, really bad people I've been asked to merit with. Hell even some of the brds I've pt'd with are pure shit. Ran into a BRD with a marduke body for example with his nin sub only being 30. >_>

But really, on non-resistant shit: Zenith(+1) or Morrigan.
