Mine decided to crap out last night just in time for Left4Dead I called in and they're going to place a repair order. Anyone know any temporary fixes that won't void my warranty?

I saw something about it being 'caused by overheating. There's a towel trick on youtube by wrapping it in towels, but I don't know what that would do. I'm hoping to get some more play time out of it before my Coffin arrives.

There really isn't a quick fix. The towel trick is for people who have broken Xboxs that want a free repair rather than dropping $100.

To elaborate on the theory behind the towel wrapping, it's supposed to generate more heat. Specifically, it generates enough to where warped-apart contacts expand enough (through heat exposure) to touch and work again. It's not a permanent fix, and can in fact damage both the malfunctioning components and others.

If your system is still covered under warranty, then wait for the box and replace it. It's doubtful it will take long for them to get it to you, as I had to replace my own 360 once in the past. Only when you're out of warranty should you consider legitimate fixes, which there are guides for online, but which also aren't fast.

Theres a nifty debug you can use to make your xbox ring segments spit out a code to pinpoint your problem.

But I've seemed to misplace the link i has bookmarked, im sure a quick google search can solve that problem

Thanks for the advice and the link. I had two red lights before, but that was just from the AV cable not working properly.

Somehow they signed me up for e-label printing, so I took it to school today and packed it up there and its on it's merry way. I don't have anything to do now though 'cause my PC's video card is still on RMA >
