    Note nin/pup:

Gold is using ADD (not abusing like some pups did....) which SE nerfed. your puppet probably wont cure you as well as his did now.

I know everyone's tired of Avesta by this point, but as of late he's put out some new videos including Suzaku (Straight-tanked, not kited), and an assortment of Stronghold [S] NMs in Oztroja and La Vaule.

I don't see how being engaged with something that isn't a Ceremonial Dagger can suddenly cause a fight to be deemed "epic", but then again that is the state of the game right now. Melee jobs are revered and discussed ad nauseum whilst mage jobs are generally left on the sidelines (unless Avesta/Kaeko updates their blogs, and even then the hype dies down before it's begun).
Big bomb is something actually worth soloing

3 examples of ones I've done personally are Vulpangue, Observant Zekka, and Cactrot Rapido. I've also done Voluptuous Vivian, Ancient Goobbue, Fenrir, Charybdis etc on Ninja, and I'd say the RDM ones are much more involved fights. They're longer, have more risk to have something go wrong, and require more 'skill'.. I don't see how they're less epic.
Bind and Gravity both stop working after ~3 casts of each, and you'd most certainly time-out if you tried to rely on DoT. Lets not forget that he hits pretty damn hard(~150 with -44% PDT), has Mijin Gakure, and spawns a million clones of himself fairly often, all of which have every last spell he has, and tend to use them simultaneously.

    Just saying.

Also, agreed on the last sentiment.

Oh, also(+1), Suzaku wasn't the least bit difficult. Most Firaga didn't even break Stoneskin, and he attacks slow as hell.

Gravity, yes, but Bind not so much. Nothing really "builds" a resistance to Bind unless it already has an immunity to it from the start.

There's a fair share of very specific things that build resistance to Bind, and Gessho is most certainly one of them. Trust me, it took me five wipes before I decided to reassess my strategy.

Probably my most 'epic' was at like level 50something RDM when I accidentally aggrod the NM golem in Beaucedine that was like 3 levels higher than me, I was /DRK I think farming ores and crap, and killed it by meleeing til I was about to die and then sleeping it, at least back then it was epic to me since it was an hour+ fight that nearly killed me many times.

As far as DoT soloing, some of it is still pretty heavy duty. I don't care how many times it's been done by whoeverRDMs, if you get hit by Ice Break doing Zip and make it through alive it's still pretty damn impressive. Even the 'easier' ones still involve moments where like Kaeko said, you need to bring A+ game to do it. Just because you've done it so often that it's somewhat of rote memorization to you now doesn't really diminish the accomplishment.

I wasn't speaking of Gessho in particular, but just among the wide variety of NMs in the entire game. Bind isn't something that normally has resistance built to it because it's duration is random from the very beginning.

Well this is neither here nor there, but I've never felt Bind to be random, just a more complicated resist system that's reminiscent of Sleep, with more tiers.

Oh, and Tricen, I have a script that swaps my backpiece in and out rapidly for just such an occasion. Hit the script, and start running in the opposite direction. As long as you managed to Bind him before Ice Break went off(which is generally the case), you'll easily survive.

I know Ryuta has soloed Ix'mnk as PLD/RDM before. And Cosmowinds soloed VV as PLD/RDM as well. Cosmo took no outside help so straight tanked and avoiding spiders is pretty awesome. Both of Odin server.

Oh, my bad, I suppose Avesta just rated him as the most difficult solo he's ever done (tied with Seiryu) for no reason whatsoever.

I'm sorry, I give full credit to Avesta for coming up with these ideas, but I hardly bow down to him as my lord and savior. I've killed most of the things he has with much less money, and far inferior equipment. If he thinks Suzaku was a difficult kill, fine, he's entitled to his opinion. Conversely, I'm entitled to my opinion, which is that it was extremely easy.

And for future reference, Hex, most VV kills are done in a corner of the room in which no spider will aggro.

Funny, I managed to bind gessho ~80% accuracy from 100% to dead duoing it, at least 20 landed binds. It has resist bind traits, which mean that you'll always have a % chance it resists. I never had a resisted gravity in ~8 either.. duration shortened like any other mob's would.

Perhaps he's been adjusted, then. My kill was quite recent(about a month ago, IIRC), and it wasn't a matter of "Resist! Gessho resists the effects of the spell", it was a matter of it wearing off after a few seconds. Generally I'd be inclined to believe I may have just been imagining it, but I wiped many, many times before I stopped trying to use the spell altogether.

All 3 rank 10 fights solo as pld/rdm.

    Fenrir solo as pld/rdm.

Operation desert Swarm (though not impressive anymore since that one excal/aegis pld did it Q.Q). At least I can say i did it w/o excal =/

If I could find an item that gave me phalanx id try some more stuff /dnc, but pld/rdm with atonement is just brokenly awesome.

BST doesn't really have much for unique solos.. anything a BST can do can also be done by NIN or RDM pretty much.
