Why would you waste MP trying to keep Slow II on Seiryu in the first place? And for the record, something being able to instantly kill you at any time due to bad luck doesn't make it hard. It makes it cheap.

that's definitely not true. at the start i usually land slow within 1-3 casts, and it rarely takes more, even with full potency gear (with chapeau, and terra's).
slow1 really, and because there's nothing better to spend mp on. once it runs out of mp all you really spend mp on is haste, bio, phalanx, an occasional SS, and poison (which also builds resistance down to a 5% land rate after awhile). before it runs out of mp you wouldn't, because it's even easier to tank with it casting its flares and fire4s than it is after it runs out of mp, and also i guess because mp can get low pretty fast with firagas. Why would you waste MP trying to keep Slow II on Seiryu in the first place?
... are you sure you solo'd this? Because you seem to be having a hard time differentiating between two gods whose names start with the same letter.
And because you seem to have eaten a whole lot of 700+ Firaga and not run out of MP.
I'd like to hear more about the gear used for the ISNM Shadows of the Mind PLD/RDM. Strategy would be a no-brainer for the most part, although I don't know how you would deal with the pops may it be circle blade or supertank til they disappear. Just want to see if it's plausible with the current state of my PLD. (No Haut, Ares, Excal, Aegis, D.ring)
A friend and I have been trying to duo this THF/NIN & RDM/BLM. Currently we're 0/4(?). We've started from scratch on strat/etc...but we're making progress. Still having issues with one thing or another...usually surrounding add spawn and recovery. We're hopeful to see a success in the next few runs.
Also if ODS has been done w/o Aegis. No one has specifically said it's been done yet.
oh, you actually meant seiryu? i assumed you (and tsuko) meant suzy, because i never said anything about slowing seiryu. that'd be completely pointless, since it's bound or out of range for 90% of the fight. if that's the case then i apoligize. you wouldn't slow it, and i also can't say anything about it building resistance, because i've never tried to slow it more than once or twice in a single pop.
cure4 + ss is only 117 mp. the only other things i needed to use mp for are haste (120/160 mp per 10 mins), refresh (160 mp per 10 mins), phalanx (63/84 mp/10 mins), and barfire (12 mp/10 mins). that's 355-416 mp per 10 mins. with my 4/tic refresh i get back 800 mp/10 mins from refresh. on top of ~650 i have left after vert+cures, that's ~1450 mp - 420 leaves me with ~1120+ mp for cures+ss. i don't think i got hit with any melee attacks at all before it ran out of mp, so the only damage i took was from firaga. it'd have to use more than 10 firagas in 10 minutes, and every one of them go unresisted for me to run out of mp.
of course, those are ideal situations. realistically i often had to switch to haste gear (~650 mp, compared to 853 in vert gear) after just one cure, so i'd only had ~520 mp left after i cured myself, and protect+shell is also 140 mp every 30 mins. and i also didn't always get refresh back up right away. so, really i did run out of mp once. does it not count as a solo because i used an elixir? <.<
Of course it does. An item is there to use and whether it's a Vile or a Melon Pie it's merely an extension of you. I would only void something as a solo if said item were exploitable...which is unlikely or impossible due to inventory restrictions.
Grats on the kill...whenever you did it. I've been meaning to take on The 'S' duo but leveling BLM got in the way...and now finishing DRK67 will likely be next in the way.

Capped skill, 8/8 enfeeb, 5/5 earth(I did earth and ice, zomg)
This resulted in 2 stuck slows over 4 suzaku pops with my linkshell, spamming at timer. I'm pretty sure that makes it ~5%, and I really don't see how your MND setup could have anywhere near that amount of m.acc. Obviously my setup wasn't perfect(dchapeau, communion earring, witch sash, earth grip, aureole for a total of ~21 more possible m.acc if 1 skill = .9 and 2 mnd = 1), but I did similar tests on other enfeebles in sky and never once saw anything that would imply you can get above the 5% minimum without using the mob's weak element or elemental seal.
Ever do anything similar with a spell that wasn't merit-specific? Not that I'm saying you're wrong or anything, but I've always just assumed that our G2 merits had inherently low accuracy after seeing the testing done with AM2.
The spam on suzaku was slow 1, less mp wasted since I was still doing a haste/refresh cycle and didn't want to go overboard on MP usage in case I actually needed to do something(I know sky, but w.e). I tried Bind, Gravity, Slow, Paralyze, and occasionally Slow II whenever I got a chance to do sky with another tank, and the only sticks I could consistantly do were bind and paralyze on seiryu.
Definitely solable. I failed, but know how to do it. Going to wait til tomorrow to try again.
O.o strat/plan you use :O
Swing at the mobs with his sword and not die.
If I had to guess ;p
I've found Gravity to be extremely easy to land on Suzaku. My friends and I trio'd it because we were bored, and every time we casted it (maybe ~4 times just to see) it landed; we were able to survive Chainspell extremely easily because of it. My Gravity setup is:

8/8 Enfeebling Magic merits too, of course. I know I have a lot of skill, but I certainly don't think that much is the difference between having resist floored at 5% and being able to land a spell consistently. Needless to say, if I try Suzaku solo I'll certainly be relying on Gravity in part to keep me alive during Chainspell.
it lands relatively easily, atleast for the first few casts (maybe 2-4 good ones, before they start really resisting all/most of the time), but i wouldn't rely on it for a solo. even if you can get a 75% land rate for the first cast, that's still a 25% chance of wiping (i'm not sure if you could actually get 75%, but the first cast isn't all that hard to land) right away, not to mention if it doesn't stick for atleast 45 seconds or so, you'll still die anyway.
personally i just avoided it entirely by not damaging it until it ran out of mp. it does add an extra 40~60 mins or so to the fight, but it's gaurenteed to work.
i don't know what to tell you. i've always been able to land slow on the first 1-4 casts for suzy (obviously won't land on seiryu, i've never bothered to try on genbu, and byakko resisted alittle more, usually it'd either land in the first few casts, or not at all). and as i said before, gravity lands very well on suzy, but builds resistance very, very quickly.Hmm..

for those "tests" you did, did you start casting slow right away? or did you wait until after someone else tried with some really gimp skill, or a nin used hojo for hate?
I started right away, but are you trying to say that one slow cast before yours will make it near-impossible to land in a full skill setup while if you cast first in a full mnd setup it'll land in 1-4 casts every time?Originally Posted by rog
