If you don't enjoy "Dead Space" and "Mirror's Edge" personally, that's because they're not your type of game, which is fine. That doesn't mean they aren't quality products and strong new IPs. It also doesn't matter if the products are produced in-house as long as they're considered to be under EA's umbrella, and they are.
Several of these games have taken more than a year to conceptualize and develop, and EA started making significant changes a while ago. They have even improved their standard fare sports games with things like the Dynamic DNA system.
And you shouldn't be criticizing EA for "publishing other people's work" when that's what THQ does too, as the aspect of their business you defended -- their wrestling games -- is not done in-house.
Activision has taken EA's place. It can easily be confirmed by looking at their last several years of releases, of which there are only a few stand-outs, and even those weren't original (e.g., "Guitar Hero III," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"). Additionally, their review scores are lower than every single major publisher across the board. This does not apply to EA.
So yes, it is an outdated view, and how outdated it is can be verified with a little research.
