I wonder if events like this are due to the internet's effect of anonymity and therefore an avoidance of social ostracizing or if it's more due to some sort of actual moral decay going on in quite a lot of western nations. I mention the latter as a reason because this reminds me of the guy who was egged on into killing himself in Brittan. I think he tossed himself off a bridge with a bunch of people egging him on to do it. I find that pretty troublesome if at all any indication of where we're headed.

It also reminds me of our obsession with censoring sex, but our almost complete acceptance of violence in lieu of sex. It does seem like we're wantonly spreading the virtue of violence and nonchalant behaviour, if it can at all be called a virtue.

Chavs are not an accurate representation of the morality of the nation as a whole. I don't see how you can take two isolated (and incredibly rare, considering how many people live on the planet) incidents and use them as evidence to support your theory that the moral fibre of Western civillisation is crumbling. Because people didn't commit suicide in the past right? People killing themselves because of others "urging" them to do it want it in the first place. They lack whatever it takes, courage, hatred, but these people provide it for them.

I'm not saying that these kind of people represent everyone, but that they represent a common symptom. You can essentially see this same culture emerge in many western countries, be it in the US, England, or even in Puerto Rico, and i don't think you can deny that two characteristics that represent this culture is a somewhat nonchalant predisposition towards anyone outside their own cliqué and at the same time violence towards people, even inside their own groups; they even "demonstrate" their affection for eachother through violence.

In a sense, we've been coming down to this for a while; the previous popular cultures have also been represented by a feeling of nonchalant behaviour, by a hint of hopelessness and a "let the world burn" sort of vibe. I'm not saying that these last few generations have all on their own decided to act like the biggest twats in history, but that there has to be quite a bit of issues as to why there has been such a rapid decay in how many people relate to eachother. You can even tell that, compared to moments where people impaled themselves with spears, when contrasted with the way we represent masculinity today, men are more prone to represent their identities via more violence, sort of an over masculinization, almost like a response to something.

Chavs didn't exist in some specific point in the past, ask yourself why they exist now.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. Are you saying that certain people, specifically in more modernized nations aren't more prone to socially aggressive behaviour? I'm not saying that people are killing themselves more now, i'm saying that people are more willing to provoke the suicide instead of preventing it; certain people.

Furthermore, the value or virtues of killing yourself or living are a different issue.
