worst case scenario: each expansion has as much content as wotg (since they certainly can't have less) but for half the price

I think WotG did fine content wise. Campaign was a pretty nice system for jobs that aren't that popular for merit PTs and whatnot.
Personally, I think WotG will get better soon.
WoTG fails, but ToAU just has gotten better and better in the last updates.. But yeah, I think WoTG will start getting better very soon too.. "Too bad" though that SE seems to be making lot of content for the base game like fields of valor and MMM while WoTG suffers because of it
Doesn't SE have 2 different teams developing shit though? Like when ToAU was out and getting updates another team was focusing on WotG?
I do like how SE is updating nation stories as well, but switching between those and WotG missions is getting old fast. I just wanna get Windy/Bastok's BCs done, but help is hard to find for those ><
I'm not really sure how do they do it anymore.. in CoP and ToAU it was pretty clear that one team made content 'till next expansion came out and then focused on creating the next expansion after that... Like in CoP era ToAU team was already making the expansion, and in ToAU era WoTG(The ex-CoP) team was already making theirs.
Now though it seems that WoTG team was on a low profile this year while ToAU team was still making content for Aht urhgan and didn't start making new expansion like one would have thought. Also now that they seem to be making 3 mini expansions I'm not sure if there's a new 3rd team or were WoTG/ToAU team be divided by 2 or is it the ToAU team making the add ons now that the expansion is finished? And who's working on content for the base game like MMM fields of valor and the treasure caskets? The WoTG team?
I wouldnt say WoTG fail so far. It does fail in term of end game event like Nyzul/salvage/dynamis/ein so far, but there is still interesting stuff. Campaign is pretty damn nice for buffer and relaxing xp (when you want to go at your own pace). Story is also excellent so far...most people agree those were some of the best cutscenes added to the game. There is a bunch of decent NM, and 2 worthwhile HNM that can't be botted.
We just need a 20k/hours xp camp and 1 or 2 worthwhile events to make this place better.
I don't mind that it's not as good expansion as it could be, as long as we're getting okay content I don't care if it's for WoTG ToAU or RoTZ really. And I know they'll make it good soon.
WotG is only really lacking in endgame content if you don't count all the content created during its reign. For example ZNMs. If you don't count that, then you got to consider that it's basically one update behind than it should be because they recently spent a lot of effort touching up ToAU instead.
EDIT: ToAU team = WotG team. The only difference is that some roles are switched around(same for all expansions). I think people are taking old jokes a little too seriously.
I'm with Septimus on this one. I really hope that I'm mistaken, but I've the feeling we are just getting to pay $10 for a story rich quest with little reward, comparable to the Ode to the Serpents, but to fill gaps in old content. Don't missunderstand me, that quest was really interesting, and I'm an history lover, but it's not something I would pay $10 for.
How would people feel if WoTG or ToAU just contained 3 quests comparable to that one with no new areas/music/activities/rewards? I guess most would have felt that they had been cheated $30.
I could be mistaken, and I hope I am, they could be full mission based storylines each as complete and epic as the main storyline from previous expansions, in that case it's well worth it, but I don't think it will.
I think pretty much everyone agree we are going to get scammed by SquareEnix on this one. Some people just don't mind as much as other.
Personally, I'm expecting a story the size of the nation quest in WotG (5-6 BC, and a lot of running around). I will be happy if we can get 10 hours worth of mission. Only thing I'm worried about is the amount of real new content (maps, monsters, models, animation) in those. If they reuse everything in the game already, I'm not gonna encourage them and buy it.
Tell me about it, sandy one was easy to solo but those two you need to keep dumb npcs alive to win, and majority of people only want to do their nation bc instead of all 3 for story, main missions you don't have that problem
Edit: Just beat the Bastok one, so just need windy but I stick by what I said!
I have high hopes for these, as a big fan of episodic gaming. I expect maybe 1-3 new areas for each expansion and some neat story content. Possibly good equips and additional leveling content, but I doubt it.
"These three new expansions, however, will deepen the storylines running through pre-existing areas by ushering in all-new plots and intrigues."

I swear if they don't give us access to Blueblade Fell this will be the most epic fail SE has ever made, not to mention that quite a lot of people will be upset!
WhatIsn't the Moogle one about a haunted house or something?
I can't believe so many people fail at reading the game's storyline.
Ok, let me explain this more clearly for you:
1. Tavnazia IS NOT the name of the city from the opening movie of Final Fantasy XI.
2. Tavnazia is the name of the entire region that comprises the Tavnazian Archipelago and Tavnazian Marquisate.
3. The city from the opening movie of Final Fantasy XI cannot be reached.
4. The closest you can get to that city is the place called Blueblade Fell, located in Lufaise Meadows and marked as so on your in-game map.
5. SE better add a way to get INSIDE that place from the opening movie.
Is it clearer now? Or do I need to dumb it down even more?
