Is it standard for a bird to get fatigued (1st message) in 6 digs in Valkurm? I haven't been able to win H&C in this zone very consistently; only 2 out of the last 7 or so.
My chocobo is retired, but I'm trying to level up some of its stats with the 100 buck tokens.. but I can't find them. I'm registered with Bastok, which is currently ranked first (dominant) in the races this week, so am I just looking in the wrong place or is something else up?
Well, that sounds right, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to buy them from the chocobuck item NPC. Since your nation is first, it should appear under the "100 chocobuck" submenu.
Has your active racing status lapsed? This will happen if you haven't entered into a circuit race in a while, at which point you'll have a victory point deducted next time you sign up for a race. I didn't think there was any other side effect such as limiting item sales, but check and let us know if this is the case.
Checked again this morning and had access to the 90 point item, so I went to check and Bastok was in 2nd. I was fairly sure I checked after the region tally, but maybe not..
Maybe I'm just mistaken about when they decide the ranks?
Hello Chocofans! Im currently raising a speed chocobo and im at day 35 with above average STR/END, Ive had the care plan set to carry packages to raise both stats equally (feeding vomp, with the odd Zeg carrots).
What im wondering is should I switch to maxxing out STR by changing the plan to deliver messages or is it actually better to have the STR/END raise at equal amounts?
Carrying packages lowers Discernment and Receptivity, so those "odd Zeg carrots" you're feeding are actually doing nothing for your bird stat-wise. If you're gong for STR/END, then you should be feeding only Vomp Carrots and your bird's favorite greens. All birds will either like Sharug Greens or Azouph Greens. The one your bird likes will be the one that it "gobbles up in one gulp" or something like that.
From what you say, it appears that keeping your bird on "Carrying Packages" will max out both it's Strength and Endurance a few days before the 64th day, so you can keep on going with that plan if those are the two stats that you want to max out.
Now for my own thoughts--
On the topic of discernment affecting your ability to dig up items, I think that there is a relationship there. When I was first able to ride my bird, I think it had "Better than Average" discernment, and it could barely dig any better than a rental bird out in East Saruta. At that point, I was an A60 digger. When my bird reached "First-Class" discernment, I took her out for a spin again, and I was digging things up left and right, and I was only an A55 digger at the time. Now maybe it was my 1 rank increase, or perhaps I wasn't paying attention to the moon phases, but I think there's got to be some connection between digging and discernment.
Now I'm wondering if receptivity has some effect on digging also. Right now, my bird is on track to have something like First-Class Strength, Average Endurance, First-Class Discernment, and Poor Receptivity. Abilities are Bore and Burrow. With this, my bird is good for travel, good enough for winning Free Runs, and a good digger. Unfortunately, if receptivity affects digging, I'm in trouble. lol
Edit: Now I'm really anxious to know the answer; Does receptivity affect Chocobo digging at all?
Ah I see, my plan was to max out STR/END then put it onto basic care and do free runs to buy discernment race training tokens.
Once I hit day 65 is it true care plans become redundant and the only way to improve stats is by using tokens?
One final question for now, when you do free runs do the opponents stats scale up to match my own bird, or will they be fixed at E-D rank (Substandard and A bit deficient)?
Edit: My bird already considers me as its parent (I check it every day) are the Azouph/Sharug essential or are they more of a "as and when" kind of food?
Pretty much. I think you can still get some stat increases through Kamp Kweh, and I'm not sure about how much food matters. However, tokens are really the only thing that changes stats fast enough to make a difference, in the time you have left to raise it.
Your opponent birds in free runs cycle through a pattern which varies by nation, and they have low stats that will not scale up as you progress. There are up to three super-chocobos which will pop up periodically (MeteorBrian, InvincibleLeg, StarOnion) with much higher stats than the rest.[/QUOTE]
I'd say as-needed. Post day ~64, you won't be driving your chocobo's care plans hard, so it shouldn't have unhappiness problems often.
Thanks for the info Guppy, Im full of questions today does anyone have more information on the saddles you can obtain? Ive checked on the wiki and come up short.
You only get to choose saddles for Chocobo Circuit races.
Tossed together a simple pos finding program in VB for hot and cold, here's what my vals are coming out as:
x, y, z = message
474, -9, 246 = Kweh.
469, -9, 222 = Kwehhh?
473, -9, 223 = Kwehhh?
471, -9, 227 = KEHHHH
481, -7, 218 = Kweh!?
483, -7, 216 = Kweh.
486, -8, 214 = Kweh.
489, -8, 211 = ...
470, -9, 225 = chest
time to break out the ole TI 83 and slowly start finding more exact vals for the max/min distances.
Edit: Actually isn't there that item you can buy from linkshell vendors that gives us these vals legitly now? I'll go look at that so I can do this without even breaking the ToS :D
For the daily reports, does the day listed indicate the previous day? For example, if the report says "Day 63" does that mean that yesterday was day 63? I'm just trying to set my care plans up correctly so that my bird is resting on day 64. And just to be sure, care plans stop raising attributes ON day 64, right?
Just go ahead with one extra day just in case? Other than that I think its the... um
...
I don't even know
