Water damage on LCD screen

I splattered a few drop of water on my screen, and 1 dribbled down to the bottom while i was trying to get something to wipe it off with, and it made this black blotches as it seeped into the LCD screen. Part of it are dried now, but it leave white mark or just fucked pixel in general, is there some way to fix it or am I SOL?

If a liquid seeps into your LCD screen as you mentioned, there is really no safe way of getting it out. That area is so very thin that you'd have to completely dismantle the LCD to clean anything out of it, and if you're not familiar with this practice, it could have disastrous results.

Some people recommend pouring yet another liquid onto the LCD (when everything is turned off and has been off for a while): alcohol. This is not a very good method to use however, as it can damage coatings, plastic, et cetera, even though it evaportates quickly.

It may just go away over time once the water fully evaporates. This won't happen quickly, as it's sandwiched in there and isn't being freely exposed to air, but ideally, the white patch will get smaller and smaller over time.

There is, sadly, not much else you can do.

I guess I'll just have to see if my warranty covers this...which it probably won't, but it's fairly new.

So, why don't they waterproof the area if a single drop of water cause that much damage?

The white spot may not necessarily be "damage," unless something has been shorted out -- it may be a distortion of light caused by the presence of water, and if that's the case, it will eventually fade away. However, because the area between the LCD panel and the glass is so incredibly thin, it takes a while.

Only if something really was damaged will this be permanent, but it naturally will not hurt to replace this if it's covered under warranty (although as you mentioned, it probably won't).

And as for waterproofing, it's not waterproofed for the same reason some watches, MP3 players, digital cameras, etc., aren't; it costs more. There are waterproof LCDs out there, but they are usually small and cost thousands of dollars.

Maybe I should consider damaging it in the manner that the warranty covers then XD
