    BTW, this will work, thanks.

It's no Jame's guide but it covers the basics.

Just a warning though it does not know which quests you've already done, so it may suggest a route that will waste your time if you yourself don't remember what quests you've done and which you haven't.

Edit: don't forget to install TomTom and LightHeaded

This is perfect, I don't remember which quests I've done and planned to just make sure and cover them all anyway, much as a time waster as that might be.

how the hell do you need a guide to play? the quest logs themselves tell you practically everything you need to know

There's a lot of times I've seen where the questlog is just flat wrong about where you actually have to go, heh...

And it's not so much "halp i dun no wer find itam" as it is efficient running of quests; pick up these six, go do them all, stop on the way back to pick this one up, turn the others back in, pick up 5 more, etc.

i agree.. haha... only quest mod i use is light headed, and the waypoint feature of Cartographer.

i dunno if this is the case on all servers but people do not know how to read quest logs... there have been many times when people will ask where to go for a certain quest and not even look at the log where it clearly tells you where to go...

not to mention.. i kinda want to play the game myself and not let someone else do it

so, the best quest guide is "Y" just finish all in a certain zone and you will get one quest that tells you to go to another or you will run into one while doing important things (sholozar questline when getting cold weather), this is always the case

If you're going for kalimdor/eastern loremaster then guides are indispensable. Efficient routes in 40-60 zones are almost impossible to figure out due to some bizarre choices by the quest designers. See:

Whiskey Slim's Lost Grog - Quest - World of Warcraft

Level 40 quest that takes you to a level 50 zone on the other side of the continent

And: Crystal in the Mountains - Quest - World of Warcraft

While the steps of this quest are quite logically laid out, most folks aren't generally willing to keep this in their log until they're ready for the final boss 7-9 levels after they've picked up the quest starter item.

Guides will generally sew up such quests in a more logical fashion. Imagine trying to complete http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3843 in the required time without having an intelligently set hearth, such as would be recommended in Jame's.

Not to mention some of the more convenient quest areas in old Azeroth aren't on the beaten path, so you never even know they're out there...there's 3-4 really easy quests you get in Lost Rigger Cove in Arathi that I never would have known about without a guide like Jame's pointing me to it on my 2nd character run through those levels.

Generally my first time around I'll do it all myself, but then I'll use guides just to speed up the process for other characters.

Except OP is talking about northrend, which is neither in kalimdor nor eastern kingdoms.

Except Norellicus asked for help with EK/Kalimdor, which is where the discussion has been the last five or so posts.

Yes, you can figure out where you need to go and I understand that might be fun for you. When I leveled my death knight on beta I didn't use any mods at all, but now that I'm doing it on live I want to streamline the process. Using Tourguide and Questhelper I plan on streamlining the process quite a bit. Those two mods are clutch in identifying which quests to do in what order, and which quests to avoid. This allows you to cut travel time, and increase efficiency by gathering multiple quests from separate questgivers that occur in the same location. My number one pet peeve when leveling is doing one quest in an area, turning it in and heading to a new hub only to realize there was a second quest for that area that I could have done alongside it. Northrend is pretty good about being quite linear.

Who said anything about needing a guide to play?

I don't particularly care about the devs' latest legend of zelda joke, time spent reading my quest log is time I could have been 80 and running heroics.

Wowwiki is a hell of a lot better source for story, unless you want to spend endless hours running around reading the randomass books in randomass places that it's all taken from.

Anyway it's basically been answered, running around questing is not my thing (I didn't even like questing in WAR where you had bigass circles on the map telling you where to go), and the good guides do a simply ridiculously good job of speeding you through everything and preventing time wasting.

Thanks for the answers people did give, now I'm just running heroics etc. to gear up and will finish all the quests for gold when Jame finishes his stuff up.

It might be too late for this. But I would recommend zul'drak for lvl 78+. Complete the Gun'drak prequest with its side quest, which is the 4 gods story line will grand you about 50-70% if the exp bar with partially rest exp.

I was one bar in 79, and I'm begin to do the Gun'drak prequest, in the end I'm about 4 bar away from 80.
