AH DNC 70 gear options

I've been helping my brother level his DNC on a seperate character. He reached 70 recently and has to do his Genkai 5 fight. The issue here is pretty much any haste options available to DNC are well into the CoP mission line. Since its a pretty bare character he hasn't done any RotZ/CoP/ToAU/WotG missions. Things like swift belt, Rapparee Harness are not an option for him leaving him basicly with AH stuff.

What I got him so far:
Emperor's Hairpin
Chivalrous Chain (can lend PCC)
Spiked Earring x2
Scorpion Harness
Battle Gloves
Woodsmen Ring x2
Amemet Mantle +1
Life Belt
DNC AF legs
DNC AF feet

Since its cap70 I can't get him any Dusk so I can't stack him in haste for TP gain. Which is atm the biggest problem he has in his Genkai fight, he can't get TP fast enough to keep dealing damage (through melee+WS) and sustain steps. Another thing I'm not sure about is his WS, last attempt DE only did ~350 with Building Flourish and ~250 on the TP winged WS afterwards this seems incredibly low even for a DNC especially when the NM does a DE for over 500 on him. I haven't parsed the fight but even with all that +acc and eating sushi, I'm not convinced he was 90% hitrate, he definately missed too much for that.

Can you run out of range on the Maat-rip offs WSes? Not taking a Dancing Edge to the face would make the fight easier.

I'm not sure the Evasion-10 from the Woodsman's Rings is helping, but I don't know what you'd want to wear in its place. Jelly Ring possibly?

The Cobra Unit level 68 melee set has Store TP on it. It's not Haste, but it could help with his TP gain and he can wear it.

i like this gear and i wear it on my blu. you also get a small chance @ counter when you wear 2 or more pieces.

Is your friend using an Icarus Wing to get TP to start the fight? I have to wonder if there is a secondary way to win this fight through self-healing like the WHM fight.

XP scroll trick is also very nice. Delevel to 69, get to 50 tnl, use an xp scroll (maybe from dynamis since you can't do riverne/sacrarium quests) get full hp when you need it.

Lost Chocobo or Escort quests also give xp scrolls.

He hasn't done RoTZ, I think you have to be passed Shadow Lord to do Outlands?

Swap the spike earrings out for something else too, even pure +evasion earrings or anything because right now they're just countering all the good done by emp pin and SH, same with woodsmans like already said. DNC has both pretty high evasion skill (B+ or something, I can't remember as I've been horribly slacking on the leveling of my own DNC... evasion is awesome for soloing though and I'd speculate this fight isn't any different) and evasion bonus job trait, might as well try play to your strengths.

Using a Joyeuse is a bad idea. You'd have to main hand it since you lose access to your SJ for G5. Moreover, DNC don't get any good sword weapon-skills, and a lack of sword merits means there would be excessive missing.

As mentioned, Cobra Unit gear is a good alternative if you've got the AN to blow. Also, I invest in a blink band for any BC I'm soloing. Every little bit helps.

I've yet to try it (I'm getting ready to. I just need to go farm a testimony), but don't forget standard G5 tactics should apply as well (icarus wing, potions, etc), especially if you're doing it to break the level limit.

Thanks for all the good advice, first of all I'm going to need to up his evasion skill since I noticed its a good 60 skill levels under its cap. Pretty logical considering the only thing he has done is exp with me, he doesn't do any events nor solo anything. Getting him CoP up till Sacrarium is not a small undertaking and I'm already pretty strapped for time myself with all the events I do every day. That and I'd have to convince 3-4 other people to help him out on his CoP's. RoTZ doesn't really matter since I don't think DNC gets anything from Sky (which is the only real thing RoTZ unlocks) apart from suppanomimi but thats lv72.

I've been doing Campaign with him twice a week for a couple of hours, I think he has about 40k AN now but unfortunately we are from Bastok so he needs more AN for Cobra gear. I'll definately try to make him do more campaigns for Cobra hands, legs and maybe feet. Also I'm going to have to find me a o.hat pop item and get a few people to help out on a hakutaku. I can definately switch the Spike Earrings for Dodge Earrings, I think I still have those on a mule somewhere. The Woodsmen Rings can be switched with Sniper's Rings.

[edit] He's only ribbon#3 so it'll take at least a month before he can even get the cobra hands, bah.
