They both probably share the same timer and maybe it's based on how many people ride the boat. Once a number is met on one of the boats it pops and resets the timer for both. Due to the popularity of the boat to nashmau, that would explain no AA, but that's just me.
(not sure if anyone posted this it just hit me as soon as i read the first post)
It kind of bothers me that it took someone jerking around with a private server (that if it was ever a finished product would be the bane of SE's existence) to give us ideas like this.
Basically, if we hadn't been jerking around with stuff we weren't supposed to/breaking the ToS, we'd have no clue how half this fucking game works.
We still don't, his observations were rather meaningless. All he proved is that the ProjectXI devs don't know what AA's spawn condition is so they left it unimplemented.
I'm pretty sure all his theories were discussed in the AA thread as well.
My theory would also explain why AA had a few appearances during Christmas last year...not many people were online and riding the boat to Nashmau to meet the quota for that boat, so the people that were testing pop conditions for AA, met the quota and popped AA.
So once again let me explain...
-Both NMs are linked timers.
-The condition for popping is based on the total number of passengers that rides either boat. When the quota is met for either boat, that boat's NM will spawn.
-Once either of the NMs pop, the number is reset.
Problems with this is...
-Einherjar.
Just a theory, but I'm going to see if I can drag a bunch of people with me from Nashmau to Whitegate after Einherjar tonight. Sounds pretty good imo and it would explain why it never fucking pops.
And the "he doesn't like being alone" bullshit.
I'd like for others to test this if they can, just bring a bunch of people back after Einherjar, test your luck and post it here please.
The quota could also be something like 200 people, so don't think it's an incorrect theory just because you brought an alliance for one ride. So please, test away! I'm bringing my einherjar ls after tonights run, maybe I can convince a few to ride it a few times.
I'm pretty sure the having more than x people thing was ruled out before >.> as it popped for someone and I believe they were alone or them and a mule toon. Which still isn't more than 2 ppl. D:
Don't keel me, I didn't bother to read the whole thread if someone already posted that :3
If it can be assumed that AA's pop condition is very similar to Proteus's then the number of people riding the boat at a given time likely isn't the condition - I've had Proteus pop a couple of times before when I was the only person on the boat.
If the tally is based off the number of tickets purchased for the boat ride and is kept track of (like the Taru in Lower Jeuno who erases food effects), only 'silently' server-side, one could bump this number quite significantly by just going through the gate and walking back out, and repeating this many times while waiting for the boat. Worth a try in my opinion, but I'm in a linkshell event at the moment and can't do it myself right now.
If it were just a tally of passengers that pops it, I would think that it would pop right away when the boat ride starts. The fact that both proteus and AA can pop at any time during the trip leads me to believe that there is something else to it. The hints about luck and not liking being left alone could mean anything, even something simple like it could pop when nobody is on the boat and then his pop conditions are reset.
