I can't say for sure, but that's the case with the vast majority of Xbox Live games.

Not like $40-50 a year is a big deal

You will need a Gold account to play any game online (except for FFXI and I think PSU). You get other benefits with it to but that's usually the huge seller.

I bought PSN because I don't feel like building a new fighting stick for the 360(Cost of parts+having to gut a real 360 controller). Basically same reason I won't buy racing games for 360, their proprietary controller standards cripple serious players who already invested in pro-level controllers. Which means the PS3 ver is likely to become the tournament standard as well.

A lot of the players that frequent tournaments here in the north east, including my roommate, bought the 360 version. The Hori DoA stick works great and is sold pretty cheap now. My roommate got his at a Game Crazy of all places for $30.

As for the game, it's a fun novelty, but I'll be sticking to old ST and KoF '98 UM. HD Remix is basically SF4 with a slightly different roster and simpler mechanics. Oh, and Sagat went from being top tier to THE top tier. I love me some old Sagat, but he becomes too much with a super. Nevermind a super that you can combo into with two tiger knees.

This makes no sense to me. How can a game based on ST2 be more like 4? They don't even have the same special system.

A lot of the adjustments they made for HD Remix are the adjustments that were made to SF4. Blanka, as an example. he had ball speed raised, and the ball bounced farther back on block. They changed electricity to the CvS2/SF4 "piano" style input. The air ball now functions as anti-air. In both SF4 and HD Remix he has the same b&b: crossup short, c.short, electricity. He plays exactly the same in both games, except he has a better super in HD Remix in exchange for not having SF4's Focus Attack mechanic and EX moves.

If you haven't played SF4, it's closer to ST than any other SF game.

Just for Blanka? Some of those changes, especially the first few seem to be obvious ways to make him play better.

I used Blanka as an example. As obvious as the changes to him may be, Capcom still stuffed him in at least four other games before making those changes. Honestly, if you haven't played SF4, then you don't know what you're even arguing. Find an arcade with SF4 cabs, play a few rounds, and then maybe you'll realize that SF4 and ST are cut from the same cloth.

I haven't played SF4 yet, my only nearby arcade sucks when it comes to new games... but you are hardly making any sense. First off, I never even said SF4 wasn't like SF2. Second, you haven't explained to me why SF2 HD Remix is more like SF4 than it is like SF2. Both have their changes, but it is easy to see that some of them are taking obvious route of (balance) progression.

Just want to clarify that they didn't change it into a piano input style. You just need to hit the same button 3 times for it to register any move that requires rapid pressing (in STHD). Doing "piano inputting" for in CvS2/SF4 won't trigger it until your 7th button press or more. In CvS2, it's any punch button 5 times, not sure about SF4.

But hey... at least he doesn't have roll cancelling. lol

Also: Sagat cannot combo into or out of his super with Tiger Knees, regardless of having been juggled with one, two, or all three TK juggles. From what I believe, the combo video that Capcom posted that had him doing that was only for that video... Why would they do that, I have no clue but that's what Sirlin stated. But, I'm not gonna talk about tiers because the game just came out so I'd really just be playing Theory Fighter with it.

I will say this though: I wouldn't say that most of the adjustments in STHD were from SF4. It's really just Sirlin, a bunch of random tournament players and a few other influences that made STHD what it is.

Ryu has a fake hadoken (not in SF4)
Ken doesn't have a crazy FP Shoryuken and his other shoryus are not at all like SF4 (if I recall, SF4 Ken doesn't have much invunerability for his shoryus)
Honda's Ochio throw behaves a bit more like SF4 in a sense that he can't trap people with it but the jab headbutt thing is completely new.
Guile's overhead and new RK Flash Kick aren't like SF4 at all
Chun's SBK trajectory is definitely not in SF4
Zangief (along with the rest of the grapplers) do not have easier inputs for their 360 motions
Dhalsim in ST and Dhalsim in SF4 are two completely different beasts
    Sagat is... Sagat.
Vega(Claw) has seen much better days in ST compared to SF4
Balrog/Bison (Boxer/Dic) are mostly unchanged for the most part from ST to SF4 and ST to STHD

Granted, yes SF4 has influences from ST, that's very clear. But, SF4 influences are not seen at all in STHD for the main part. I wouldn't even say the Blanka combo was an SF4 influence either, it just works because instead of having to deal with the bare minimum of 5 button presses, you have to deal with 3 button presses and because of rapid inputting on a single button, that's at least 10 frames in Classic and 6 in STHD assuming you're perfect with the timing (counting each button down and up as its own frame.) Heck, to be really honest, this combo was more of an accident if anything, probably wasn't even intended for STHD.

Question! From that changes article, am I right to think that the OCremix community contributed ALL the music for the official game? I've download all of it from them last night but I was under the impression that they have just taken the (original music from SF2 HD) and remixed it instead.

So the OCremix torrent of the soundtrack is the official music for this game?

I'm not talking about combo videos. I'm talking about what I've done in matches in STHD. Sagat can very much combo 2 tiger knees into a super. Try it out sometime. It just doesn't work in a corner.

Character Specific? TKing them when they're jumping in? Both the Knee and the Uppercut part connecting or just the Uppercut part of the super? TKs hitting single twice or double then once or once then double?

Either way... it ain't working! :3

Every single song in the Remixed Soundtrack are all segments or full songs from OC Remix.

Works best when they jump in, but they don't have to. Use short TKs. TK xx TK xx Super and you'll hit them with the uppercut.

    EDIT: Not character specific

So what characters do you guys prefer to play as?

I mostly used Ken, but have now recently swapped over to Akuma after seeing how much more useful 3-hit fireballs are.

I'm a Vega (claw) main. I'm not one of those awesome players, but I do fine vs the average player (not to mention killing noobs who only plays shoto).

Ryu. I like it's balance and simplicity, although I can play Claws, Dictator, Guile, Ken and Zangief too.
