fucking roflPHOTOS: Tiny Tropical Island Yields a Wealth of Species
A cockle's large, muscular foot juts through an opening in the mantle supporting its shell.
The cockle bends and straightens the foot to jump away from predators in its shallow-water ocean habitat off the island of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. The cockle uses the two small holes in its shell to pump and release seawater filtered through its gills.

Makes you wonder if all life on earth is not intertwined in such an all-inclusive manner as we think. Maybe there really are totally separate ecosystems, food chains, etc. that aren't affected in the least by what goes on up here, and vice versa. Hell, even if we dump tons of oil and chemicals in the ocean, there's got to a be a point deep enough where it doesn't matter anymore. And who knows what the stuff down there excretes into the water.
sounds like a job for seaquest dsv
That's so cool. Nature comes up with the most ridiculous things you'd never buy into if some stoner were to tell you about it. "How about, like, a squid with elbows man".
so, I dont have any fancy scientist degrees, but I find this statement odd.. how is it they know what % of species are still undiscovered?Eighty percent of the world's species remain to be discovered
I wonder if that 80 percent is equally distributed amongst the various kingdoms, genuses, and species... e.g. 80 percent of mammals are left to be discovered, 80 percent of birds, etc. as well as 80 percent of bacteria, insects, and odd random marine life.
Glass Squid is watching you masterbate...

Real Life Sea Monsters - 24 Bizarre Creatures of the Deep : Who Sucks
http://www.weirdthings.org.uk/wp-con...ers-pic-14.jpg
Black Metal Fish is not amused, either. Theres some more pictures of weird sea shit. I'm like alot of other people, my fascination with ocean creatures began as a child and I did wanna become a marine biologist as well. I've always loved stories of these huge creatures and monsters that lived in the deep that humans never see but only hear about in myths and fairytales. I also love mythological creatures as well, things like giant boat eating squids and man eating creatures always get me going. I doubt it, but does anyone remember going to the arcade and playing the game "Ocean Hunter"? That shit was the bomb.
Very cool. I always like it when they capture videos of deep underwater creatures. Here's another one that was found last year:
YouTube - Prehistoric shark found in Japan
Taste is probably the same as regular squid, but it would be like eating tyres. Anything that deep would be toughhh.

Fuck you deep sea shit.
From the Bloop link:
Holy shit, I hope that's true because that would be fucking awesome for something that large to exist on this planet and for humans to not even know of its existence.According to scientists who have studied the phenomenon it matches the audio profile of a living creature but there is no known animal that could have produced the sound. If it is an animal, it would have to be, reportedly, much larger than even a Blue Whale, the largest known animal on the earth.
