Eleven different places attacked, including the airport, train station, the Taj Hotel, the Trident Hotel, several cafes and other locations. Estimated dead at latest report was over 100. Currently, the two hotels and some place that sounded like a Halfway House by the name were still under attack and had hostage situations, where they estimated nearly 100 people were being held. Terrorists seemed to be targeting American, British, and Isralei nationals specifically, but attack people indiscriminately. Latest report from MSNBC.

And, in the end, if we're talking about radical terrorist organizations, it lately has been coming down to religious extremists doing the work. They don't care about the damage they cause or the money that can be made, or even the lives they lost in the attacks. All that matters to them is that they think they are doing "God's Work". That's all you really need to know about those kinds of people.

Maybe, but I don't think the bombs in Bali 4-5 years ago did that much. People forgot about that attack soon after. I don't think it's really different here.

To say that they are defending themselves seems to imply that we should feel sympathy for what they are going through. Maybe if they stop killing civilians that don't even know who they are and tried focusing on those that are suppressing them, I'd consider it. Then again, anyone who murders someone else, for reasons that are moral, political or religious, is abhorrent to me and gets everything they deserve.
