How is DK tanking now? Most warriors I know are really enjoying themselves right now, and I did have fun on druid (before I let my sister have it), so I was wondering after a few nerfs if you guys are still having fun?

I just see so many more dk's dpsing than tanking.

It's effective in some fights, and I know some guilds still use DK tanks effectively, but I stopped enjoying it when ToC hit. My tanking gear wasn't top notch and it just felt like a struggle to even try to keep pace with Warriors and Paladins anymore, whereas prior to the patch I held stride with them just fine.

I'm sure it's still viable.

it's alot of fun. i tank as frost and i have to watch for alot of procs, but I think i do very well. I have a modified dps rotation from what's suggested on EJ so let me know if you want me to share it i will. No other tank can do snap aggro like a frost dk. deathchill + howling blast or a KM proc + howling blast is a huge threat boost. nobody can take threat from it (almost). Now ICC...the avoidance nerf may change things drastically for us.

Oh, I promise you, I can rip hate off like you're not even there. Threat is the biggest dk issue.


I dunno much about what's going on with IC aura shit, but basically DK's day in the limelight was when the 2 hardest fights in the game revolved around massive magic burst damage. We'll see if there's anything that brings them up for that kind of tanking in IC.

oh trust me i don't want the limelight. let pallys have it. just the radiance will destroy tps. rune strike being based on dodge... something has to be changed for dk tanks to work in icecrown. Bears will be bad off too. will be interesting to see what they do in the coming days.

I always thought you got the buff when you reach 100 >.>

And as far as the debuff, best I can tell it just stacks completely separately and increases your dmg taken. I don't really have time to look tho, cuz I'm always soaking while trying not to turn my back to the mob I'm tanking lol.

I'm either looking at my cd's or dbm so I haven't ever seen the 100 thing for the buff. Does it also show the time you have left on that buff or is something a addon has to do.

So the opposite colours also have a stack to them? I just assumed they did damage and perhaps would negate the bonus of the good coloured ones.

Bears will be fine, we have higher armor and health than anybody else in same armor level. Paladins I think really get the shaft here since dodge is still a big chunk of their avoidance, and block doesn't totally negate damage.

For what? And you only have 1 brewfest or both?

For tanking gormok or anub himself, 2x brewfest or brewfest + black heart. For Jara the Fervor is actually pretty good, depending on what your general options are gearwise for dropping stam when you don't need to stack it to extremes.

So I found out today that my recount box was hiding the buff counter and timer on it. Seeing this buff may be the reason I got my best dps so far by a fair bit on this.

Wild Growth (only on groups of people taking damage of course, preferably melee) > Rejuvenation spam on anyone taking damage. If you can pre-hot (Emalon Lightning Nova for instance) you'll do even better.

For fights like Twin Valkyr just keep Wild Growth on cooldown and Rejuv on as many people as possible. With the right gear you can do ~10k hps with little effort.

According to the spreadsheet I use they are second BiS after the heroic25 T9 token drops. I use them on my SV tard.
