k so help me out here. I need some perspective to make sure I haven't gone completely off my rocker. Sorry if it just sounds like QQ or a wall of text, I just want to at least vent it before I say or do something I'll regret.
For the last 9 weeks, I've been precluded from our "usual" friday-saturday 10 man raids. Not necessarily due to any oversight or punishment against me, just due to only being able to sustain x number of melee vs ranged, etc. Though I'm sure a small part of it is at least due to having been absent for the better part of August, having only come back regularly just before Brewfest started.
I get that. It's disappointing because the 10s group is the one who pushes hard modes and stuff, but I get it. What can ya do.
Three weeks ago, a guildie decided to set up a second 10 man group that runs ToC/Ony on Sunday afternoon with a mixture of alts and mains (still all within guild). Being that I could really use the badges and been wanting to flex my bear abilities since they only slot me as dps in 25s, I signed up in a heartbeat to tank. It's been fun too, we do well and have oneshotted everything both times, even through some 'oops' moments (like offtank dying right after switch toward the end of Gormok, so I got up to 5 stacks...scary watching your hp tick like that).
Fast forward to tonight. We're 6 people short of going for General and Yogg in 25 Ulduar (neither of which we've ever killed I don't think...we might have gotten general once, but that's about it), on account of the guild at large plowing through all the normal T9 content yesterday (getting them to attempt 25man hard modes would be a miracle) and nobody caring about accomplishment for accomplishment's sake or hardmode loot. So RL/GM (not actually, it's his wife, but she might as well be) calls for splitting into 10 man groups and running that instead.
Seeing that some of the sunday run's members are present, I make myself known that if the sunday group wants to gather up and go then I'm in, otherwise I'm saving my lockouts for that group.
RL/GM flips her shit saying I'm being selfish and anti-guild and elitist by trying to hold an exclusive group of people to the run instead of just taking the opportunity while folks are present to do a run now, and that I should learn to be more diverse with the guild members. According to her, even so much as signing up for this alternate run ahead of time is traitorous to the guild at large somehow, despite the apparent consistency in the lack of my entry to our "normal" 10 group. Some back and forth takes place that I won't really elaborate on but it's all a bunch of stupid bullshit that I'm pretty sure boils down to nobody else understanding my point or that I'm not even trying to argue, I'm just choosing to sustain the sunday group rather than run now and potentially leave them tankless (we already have to kind of hem and haw about finding our offtank).
So my question is am I completely missing some element of "guild etiquette" here or is the GM just completely fucking bonkers?
PMS, bonkers, etc. This is why I've always felt female GMs are more dangerous than male ones. No offense intended to any female players, this is just like the 20 billionth time I've heard this type of story.
she's nuts. hate to say it, but avoid female leadership or worse, a married couple. i recently had problems with that and it almost cost us the entire guild because of it. now i'm sure they're some fantastic female leaders out there and i wish them all the luck in the world, but i've had nothing but bad experiences.

GIRL GAMER
I'm pretty hesitant to levy judgement on a story like that. People tend to write it in such a way that they know they'll get the answer they want from us. 10 man drama is a hazardous thing, and is how my guild lost a bunch of members. Your GM is right to try to avoid cliques from forming in their guild, once demand for 10 man groups dies down enough it is not as bad. If you get one group locking all of your priests to one run, or something like that it is pretty troublesome.
The thing is, there's already a clique in the main 10 man group (which includes the GM, I may add). They don't rotate people around, it's the same 10 people anytime they're on despite 15-20 signing up, and they only bring in extras if someone is out of pocket. The sunday run was organized for the sake of those who have schedule issues with the usual 10s and because only recently did we get the toons/alts with the right combination of tanks and healers available to make a 2nd 10 man possible. Functionally I don't really see the difference between this group running at the same time as the usual 10s and running it early sunday afternoon instead, which is why the GM's reaction boggles my mind.
there will always be grief about cliques cause noone wanna be left out in the cold. I still feel that it is up to the RL to pick an chose whomever he/she wants in his group. It usually evens out in the end (we've had ALOT of arguments about this, and those that doesnt like it just pug and seem rather fine with that), and tbho if you're doing hardmodes you cant just pick any random DPS up.
nothing wrong with being an Elitist Jerk sometime :3
edit: and yes, bitch be crazy
How I prioritise trinkets on Mage? Do I go for Spellpower, Haste, or Crit?
Still only 73 but I keep picking the things up from quest rewards and I've no clue which I should keep.
Now that I have a combat spec for rogue I have some questions. All the guides I find aren't for ruptureless cycles and my spreadsheet says to go ruptureless so all I need to use is evis and SnD. How should I start off? 1 SS and then SnD and then get 5 cp and SnD again and then Evis's until SnD timer is low enough that I should save CP to refresh SnD? The start seems a bit clunky with using SnD twice in a row, would it be better to get 2-3 CP in 3-4 seconds using the pooled energy and then SnD and that could give enough time to get an evis or so off and then get more CP for SnD refresh.
I guess the opening would change if I used adrenaline rush since it would give me tons of energy. Does the opening actually change with AR, would you get 5cp for snd and then evis like crazy or get a 1-2 cp snd off quick and use all the extra energy for evis bursting? If the fight isn't something like twins where saving burst is a good idea should you use AR BF and Killing spree at the very start of the fight?
Are there any addons that are good for tracking CD's? Any other tips/tricks for combat rogue?
I also have absolutely no clue how to deal as a combat rogue. I dropped my PvP spec for combat spec since I got ToC-H mace and I wanted to try it out, and the high SS crits are nice, but on the dummy I'm only at like 2.7-3k dps. :\
Does Anub take any damage from dots while submerged?
This type of thinking is why 1) I take a backseat on all but important decisions in my guild (I'm one of the 3 class officers) and 2) when I join on PUGs and they ask for people to vent it up, I do not speak into the mic fo fear of being treated differently.
I've been lucky enough not to encounter people who are crazy misogynists in WoW for the most part, but I'm always leery of dealing with guys in gaming situations. Too many situations in my life I've been the girl in a guy's world sort of situations, and now I err on the side of caution because of it.
(I was one of two girls in the trumpet line back in high school, and the senior boys did not take kindly my junior year when I shot up to 2nd chair from starting in the 2nd to last chair my freshman year. There was a lot of back-biting and nastiness that season- from the GUYS.)
I don't think it's really fair to anyone to call it a misogynistic mindset. Granted, there are a lot of male players out there, but you can't blame people for reacting based on past experiences. Everyone is an individual and obviously not all female players fit into that mold, but surely you don't mean to look down on anyone for expressing a viewpoint based on past experiences.
Not that I think you are, but I also disagree with you that the gaming world (as it were) is so openly misogynist or just straight up anti-girl gamer. Granted, there's a difference in the way a lot of people react to situations given gender, but I don't think it's that big of a deal, at least not with any people I run with.
I have, and I'm sure everyone has, had a fair share of male leaders and officers that have done straight up bullshit moves to other players and guild mates. It's not a gender bias, just something that a lot of people have seen happen with female leadership.
I can always see my dots ticking on acid and dread but I'm usually not paying attention on anub since there is stuff to do.
Yeah, like I said, my DPS goes to shit because my disease tick while they are underground.
