Some trinkets are still ppm, but yeah most are flat % chance.

Also, the cooldown starts as soon as it procs, so the actual period in which you don't have your buff is generally shorter than 45 seconds (15 second buff = 30 seconds of actual downtime).

I have absolutely no idea what the endgame scene is like on my server, I was in a casual raiding guild that didn't get anything done other than wiping to 10-mans every time I went, and giving up after 2 hours because people were bored. Really need to find a raiding guild that doesn't suck, I'm pretty much as geared as I can get pre-raid. I've even started to buy fucking PvP gear (and I suck at PvP) just to feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.

Yea, that doesn't answer your question at all, but meh ;< Guild just broke up due to everyone that was worth a damn getting frustrated that shit wasn't getting done, so hopefully me and the misses can find a raiding guild now.

Well that would be why my server, which is one of the highest in terms of overall progression, has them going for 300-450.

using a Retri Pally to solo old heroics, would it be better to equip all of my Prot gear (so shield, def 540, stamina) or to fully equip in PvP set with a 2hander?

I havent figure out the importance of using a shield without Prot talents available

Probably depends on the encounter, not something you can use as a general rule.

true, let me just explain it better :
since one of my spec/gear is fixed on Holy, i only have the other one to toy with. So I was wondering, would i terribly gimp my TBC heroic solos going Ret spec + prot gear? Respeccing everytime I want to solo something is quite annoying, and so I was looking for tips to optimize my defenses.
I dont aim to solo stuff like Kharazan or anything, just the lv70 heroics.

What the hell do I do with blue sockets as Rogue? I'm about to have 5 of the motherfuckers and ijdk what to do with them. I'll be over 315 hit without using any 10hit/15stam greens, so my only option looks like a fuckton of Shifting dreadstones (10agi/15stam)... halp

Take the piece with the best socket bonus and stick a Nightmare Tear in it. Gem the rest with red like Eaglestrike suggested.
