How can I increase my survivability as Arcane Spec? Made of paper at the best of times and without Ice Barrier I'm getting cut down in no time by AoEs and random tags.

Mana Shield only absorbs about 1.3k and short of Gemming/Enchanting Stamina I can't think of shit.

It's not so much the killing but the random bullshit that always comes my way.

Done ToC Normal a few times and I keep getting the bitch who spams her goddamn spells on me even though the tanks have solid hate, then the Black Knight has his shitty spells in the third phase.

Doesn't help my mage only has about 12k HP in Blues/Greens.

I don't think Reg ToC5 was ever tuned for an entire group still in blues/greens, the folks succeeding at it are getting carried at a minimum by folks already in heroic/Naxx epics.

for black knight's third phase, if your not already, ice block when you get hit with marked for death then unblock quick. clears the debuff, and theres a fairly low chance youll get nailed twice with it.

Also, if you get Paletress, casting Mirror Image creates more targets for her random Holy Smite, lengthening your lifespan. Someone told me (but I haven't tested) that you can also spellsteal the renew she casts on the Memory, which should definitely keep you alive for the duration.

And if you're human and Black Knight targets you for http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=67731, you can Racial out of it to take no damage as long as you use it before the knockback happens. All these little tricks add up to a lot of survivability.

You can't say that speculation pegs the 8th and then in the same sentence say that someone somehow knows that it's the 8th.

What you're posting sounds like pure speculation, though given the time of year it makes sense. I'd say that those two dates are safe bets, but this isn't MMO-Champion, coming here and going "I know this for certain but I have no credible sources etc etc believe me or not it's your choice" doesn't really fly.

At what point would you say it'd be safe to go around looking for a raiding guild? I'm currently sitting in my friend's as a non-raider, but they go far too late for me to attempt to see if I could join them as an actual member. I'm not sure when my gear would be safe enough that a guild would accept me when I have no endgame experience other than a single twins fight. lol

You should make sure you do daily heroics for triumph badges and spam the crap out of as many heroics as possible for conq badges. There's a few craftable upgrades that you could get as well that would up your chances a bit too, mostly the newest bracers. Spam 10/25 voa's for chances at tier gear. I honestly can't remember what sort of stats you should have to feel comfortable but from your armoury you are about 5 under the hit cap.

Well I know what to do to gear myself out I do as much as I can from when I log in after work until I go to bed (managed to fit in 3 heroics and a 10 man onyxia and 10 man VoA last night lol)

Also about the hit rating comment, I am above the hit cap thanks to being a draenei. I could take out the hit rating gems I've got in my body piece but I don't feel like spending 150 gold on a blue body for new gems :<

I know what steps to take to gear myself out and I have been doing so (and I think I'm doing pretty well for myself since I only hit 80 6 days ago), I'm just not sure at what point I should actually try to start finding a guild to raid with.


edit: I feel a little bit proud of myself with the damage I do during heroics/raids that I have been on so far. I can be the only one in the group getting achievements and this is my first time playing WoW but I'm getting like 2nd place on the DPS in a majority of everything I do. XD I got pulled into a 25 man twins fight a few days ago and got commended by someone in my friend's guild about how well I did for my first time on that fight

I'm probably going to be shunned for this. A good way to check to see if your gear can handle raiding is to use gearscore addon. If you are around 4.7k-4.8k gearscore you should be in the clear. I know/realize that gearscore doesn't tell you how good the player is, but that's not what it was meant for in the first place. It just says your gear gives you the capability to do whatever.

Why do DKs still spec into desecration?

I'm genuinely curious. I know they removed the DK's damage increase. The movement speed reduction seems useless to me in PvE, unless it adds something I don't know about?

Kinda useful in faction champs I suppose. Keeping mobs confined = less running around = better sustained dps boost... but I'm pretty sure you can just get a better DPS boost from just putting those 2 talents into something else.

In PvE? They don't. If you have an Unholy DK that's still specced Desecration for PvE they're retarded.

Leveling 78-80, or more on the lines of 78.5+-80, with Epic Fliers, as a duo, Basin or Zul Drak. Quests like "kill 10 of these" favor us, quests like "collect 10 of these" do not favor us. Which is a faster zone for the last 1-2levels do you think? (Double melee).

Note: SP and IC untouched

I would think the Jotunheim line of quests would be real quick (in Icecrown) because they're pretty much all objectives shared among the group.

Go do the massive quest chains that unlock Hodir and Eben Blade.

To expand on this, you should do the 'outer rim' quests of Icecrown, starting with Shadow Vault, clearing out that whole north -> southwest rim of quests, then doubling back to the argent crusade hub in the southeast and clearing your way north. That set of quests alone should get you within striking distance of 80.

DO NOT TOUCH any of the other quest chains that start on the your faction airship (Against The Giants, etc) as duoing them is very very hard (Riders, Alumeth) and frustratingly slow with all the doubling back to the airship.
