I'm starting to think that you can just tank in a dps spec with some tank gear on just to defense cap you, tbh. Speed things up abit imo

I generally tank heroics in full on ret dps gear with the aforementioned axe and my 258 shield, which has str gem and tit plating for pvp (245 shield is better for EH).
I'm usually at least 100 def below cap, usually around 32-35k hp, and pretty much the only time I switch out is for huuuge pulls, like doing the whole first half of CoT gauntlet in 1 pull.
5k dps on single target in that setup is not abnormal at all.
ok nearing 50 emblems of frost on my hunter, should i buy the cape or wait til i have 60 and buy shoulders/hands (wont have set bonus)? currently playing as survival, lacking in gear & the ability to get into a 25man where i can get tokens.
Pick the one that give the biggest gearscore improvement. It's the only stats that matter in PUG.
As long you're not retarded with the stats/gemming/enchant, your dps should be much better than the average player, and getting into better PUG should be your priority, since it will improve your chance of getting badges and gears.
If you want to optimize your dps, then I don't know which one is the best.
If you would stack dmg mitigation instead of stamina for a fight, then blood draining is probably the lesser choice.
Problem is, for heroic/easy raid, you won't need the dmg mitigation either. Healer have no trouble healing you, and unless you're trying to shave seconds off your fight, more hp or taking less dmg won't make a difference probably.
HP vs mitigation debate could go on forever, and everyone can find "best/worst" case scenario...there is no real way to determine which one is the the best, unless we look at a particular encounter under very specific circumstance. That's why everything is converted into raw "hp" and compared. It's the only thing we can do.
Hunter 70-75 question:
MM, SV or BM? Seems MM or BM is the way to go until SV offers both Aimed + Explosive shots, but I can't really see MM doing much more than BM when the toon is still in Outlands/70 Quest Greens.
Really? My bad then, because it felt faster.
[edit]
Would be 40sec with internal cooldown of 10sec.
0sec 10sec 20sec 30sec 40sec for all 5 buffs.
so for the first time ever i was told my gearscore, 4824. is that bad? good?
It's not bad but it's not great. If I see someone with a sub4k gearscore in my daily hc then I get a touch dismayed, but not so much as to kick them or anything.
good to know, thanks. I'm far from great but i do hold my own. 5500 dps is average, and i'm happy with that for now.
Since you've said you don't raid, that's probably about where you're going to hover. Collecting Frost Emblems and slowly acquiring T10 gear and/or picking up some crafted pants/boots made from Primordial Saronite would give you a fair boost, but you really don't need that level of gear if you're not raiding.
ftfy, that retarded gearscore addon is just that, retarded, knowing your class is a much much better indicationIt's not bad but it's perfectly able to compete in raids and do great dps so long as you know what the fuck you're doing (boss mechanics, class rotations, etc)
Why use GearScore when you can use Elitist Group:

Explosive Shot shares a CD with Arcane, thus you never want to use Arcane. SV uses a "which one is off cooldown" kind of priority system:
(Kill Shot >) Explosive Shot > Black Arrow > Serpent Sting > Aimed Shot > Steady Shot
Fire whichever one of these is furthest to the left and off CD. When you get LnL procs, Explosive-WAIT .5 SEC-Explosive (else you overwrite one explosive tick).
