May sound like a dumb question but.. what's the use of Fan of Knives?
Since it costs me energy I'd instead use to Mutilate/build CP, I was wondering if there's a "suggested" pack size where the overall AoE damage of FoK outdamages single target dps.
I'm talking HCs most, so 3-4 mobs per pack.

Also, in heavy adds situations like Onyxia's whelps, does the Rogue need to keep spamming KoF everytime he has the energy for it?

You use it anytime there are more targets than you can hit with your normal abilities (so, 2+) AND said mobs don't have to be killed in specific orders or cause dangers like exploding on death (ala the bone guards in ICC). There really is nothing as effective.

So your specific scenarios you're using it almost constantly.

Your tank's ability to hold aggro factors in as well of course, unless you like becoming a puddle of goo.

I don't know much about rogue, but Fan of knife is sweet when combined with Trick of the trade from a tank perspective. Threat isnt an issue, but if I missed some target with consecration, I'm always glad to get some help from the rogue.

Isn't there an energy return on fok? If so, how many mobs do you have to hit for it to totally replenish the cost of fok in the first place?

Rogue talents give you some energy back when you crit, so sometimes you will get TONS of energy back from fok spam. If you are mutilate, 3-4mobs is good for spamming it... in Ony, on whelps, you'll do like 10-15k dps doing fok spam, just make sure you pop eva and have vanish ready.

Ok, I've browsed TankSpot, EJ, and the official forums... and I have no idea what to do with my Warrior. I'm gonna hit 80 shortly and I'll be focusing on finishing up some questing so I can get a solid nest egg, but I have no clue what to do in terms of gems (specifically meta), enchants, and just general tanking information. I'm pretty familiar with my abilities after 10 levels of getting to know and love them, but totally clueless on making the transition to tanking some heroics and maybe maybe a raid at some point down the line.

Is there a good guide that's up-to-date somewhere? I get worried when I read a guide that hasn't been updated in a year, given how quickly WoW changes.

Oh, and trinkets... where can I find some tanking trinkets? Are any available (non-JC) before running instances?

Pretty sure tankspot has a pre-raid gear guide... that's what I used.

meta: 32stam 2%increased armor (austere earthsiege)

other gems: stam/def+stam/def until you are def capped, then push stam only. 535defense for heroics, 540 for raids.

5man Toc has a trinket, as well as one from triumphs and one from 2nd boss Azjol nerub.

Shield slam, revenge if up, devastate, heroic strike to burn rage, concblow/shieldblock whenever, spam tclap and shockwave as needed especially at beginning of group pullls.

Think there is also a guide on tankspot for rotations and shit, but that's pretty much what you'll be doing in a nutshell.

The rotations I think I have down, regardless. I've been doing a bit of quest tanking (duo'd Amphitheatre with an undergeared Holy Paladin, that was fun), I'll just have to get used to multiple targets.

Hit and Expertise loosen up your threat but they aren't your first concern, and tanking accessories you pick up will generally equip you with a good amount of it anyway.

Dunno on glyphs, I don't have a warrior tank (yet!)

Tankspot's guide is two years out of date and is pretty much useless at this point. Best just run easy heroics till you can buy yourself some t9 then spam the epic-only dropping heroics for the rest of your gear so you can start collecting ToC25/ICC10 drops.

So would this be sufficient to start tanking randoms: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...nis&cn=Archain Disregard the chest enchant, I miscalculated and had to replace it with 22 Defense rating to get me capped (main's an Enchanter, expense is nominal). I've become so used to people having at least some bits and pieces of T9 that I'm scared to death of showing up with my paltry 3k gearscore. God knows what I'll do against people geared as well as my main, possibly explode into a puddle of failure.

By the way, is Jormungar Leg Armor normally rare and expensive? There's only one presently listed at 90k and that seems outrageous for a blue augment.

You could tank Heroics, but i'm sure people would not be happy to see your health that low. They seem to want all tank with 40k unbuffed and everything to be gogogo pull now. You could get some of the long use BS made items like saronite swordbeakers and/or breastplate of the whiteknight.

Jormungar leg armor is the LW self only one. The one you're looking for is Frosthide leg armor.

He won't even be able to que for most heroics, let alone some normals. The guide is still good for quest items, normal drops, rep stuff, etc.

If you have 1k gold, you can probably gear yourself with ilv180-200 blue on AH, which should be enough for most heroic. A lot of blue go for 30g on AH.

Otherwise, it might be better to get carried on DPS, because people have less issue with ungeared dps than ungeared tank.
