Any t10 pieces you buy will drop for you from now on in VOA.

That's a given obviously, even if that piece is body/shoulders/head![]()
I dunno about the rest of your gear, but I went with Hands/Shoulders because they're the cheapest. I'm using Triumph badge Head, Merlin's Robe, and some ICC10 Legs that I picked up. It all depends on your next best alternatives in the slots. The T10 2 piece set bonus is ZOMFG AMAZING. Honestly, I just recommend picking it up ASAP. I can now reach a 1 second Arcane Blast when I have proc + icy Veins + Heroism up... ... ... I need to work on that.

get shoulders, head, body first
i stupidly finished my 4pc the week toravon came out and now i have 2 more pairs of gloves and 1 pair of pants from 10man -_- oh yeah and another pair of mage gloves.... on my moonkin.
if your AB is clipping the GCD (cast speed below 1sec) stop using IV during hero and just use arcane power. you will start seeing that at about 1k haste if black magic procs. If you pop a speed pot with the IV you get your own little mini-hero, or alternatively you can use a wild magic with hero + AP.
shouldn't have bought the EoF belt imo ;x depends what you are killing but there is a decentish waist off marrowgar or putricide on 10man, or even one from toc10/hc. 4pc t10 is too awesome for burst to ignore :< you probably need hit from your head but i would look at getting a cape/boots/neck/something else with hit so you can get the t10 in there without having to eat hit food or gem it.
I haven't seen the mage stuff drop off of Toravon yet... I'd been delaying myself as much as possible before getting any of the T10 pieces... it just reached a point where I wanted it. I was using +HIT shoulders at the moment, so I knew the combination I would need to remain hit capped would have been Shoulders/body + Hands/feet... so obtaining one piece of Toravon gear was unavoidable.
I thought Black Magic was overall less DPS than a straight + Spell power, due to uptime versus proc rate and internal cooldown...
Definitely starting to move IV off of Hero... but for the purposes of Heroics (I only PUG raid, due to being active in FFXI), things are dead in a few casts anyway.
As far as the belt, I got that before either of the T10 pieces. I also just rejoined about a month ago. I wasn't familiar with the other belts obtainable through ICC5s or whatnots, and I was using some crappy PvP Belt at the time. When I got it, it was the biggest single slot upgrade I could get myself.
I hate gemming for hit... I need to do some calculations to determine if I should just use the hit / SP trinket instead of the rune and then gem for hit and swap head/body for T10
Looking for a good melee dps class... I'm not really digging my shadow priest for good dps, gonna make her a healer I guess. Don't really want a ranged dps, kinda boring :\
R0gue. Well, depends, do you want easy mode 2 button melee class (rogue) or a somewhat complicated have to pay attention melee class (enhance shaman)
bloodmage pants are worse than the ones you have now, if you must buy the + hit pvp cape or something, or get the new WG neck and put a hit gem in it, because hands and legs are the worst pieces of t10 for arcane (but you gotta have one of them, so hands is the lesser of two evils)
frost needle from 10m marrowgar has hit, as does chalice of benedictus from twins on 10m. there's some boots from toc10 also with +hit and a gem socket.
You're right about Black Magic... I was under the impression that it was the 45 second internal cooldown, not the 35 second.
I dunno, been a while since I've been out damaged by other mages, so the mages' union can suck it! Of course, rare that I'm with other mages. It's not like I'd toss my rune, it's just for the interm.
As far as gear improvements, I'll take a look into the WG Neckpieces... I forgot that new WG neckpieces were released, and I just looked at the shoulders. I was also planning my next big upgrade to be the Primordial Sardonite Feet, which I think have some hit on them.
And I'll try to check out TOC10 again. Last time I looked I really didn't see anything in there that made it worthwhile to me.
Nah, you've got it backwards. The proc uptime is sufficient to make Black Magic a definite gain over Spellpower. With how Mage works (direct nukes), it's a very beneficial enchant and should be used at least on one-handed weapons. I'm not 100% certain if the Staff Spellpower enchant is better or not.
For a more DoT-oriented spec, that is, Shadow Priest or Affliction Warlock, then the value of Black Magic versus Mighty Spellpower gets a little fuzzy. Theory still favors Black Magic, but I've found that is only true if you're micromanaging the hell out of the proc and diddling the ICD as much as possible.
No, don't buy the quill. If you buy the quill, you're just wasting badges. Out of an expected ~2 million people to be using the quill, only 178 are. there are 15+ trinkets that are better for DPS than the quill, and the triumph hit trinket for DPS, including two melee DPS trinkets. Herkumi War Totem > Quill.
I have a friend who just hit 80 on his Holy Preist. I'm really clueless on wtf a Holy Priest is supposed to do in a raid setting. Is there a "How to do Holy Preist for dummies in these 3 easy steps" guide?
Note: I'm not a priest, just going off what I've seen.
They're best assigned to raid heal. The various AOE heals they have suits that well. They typically don't touch tanks (except when needed in extreme cases where the tank is getting smushed, think patchwerk or 3 inhale festergut) because their mana pool can't sustain it. Can be asked to toss guardian spirit, though.
So basically..Prayer of healing, prayer of mending, circle of healing for your raid heals. flash heal or greater if a dps is about to die. Bubble when you feel like it. Help with OT or MT healing when the situation demands it.
I'm not a priest, but written by someone I consider fairly intelligent on the subject:
1. Keep Renew up on the tank at all times.
2. Cast Prayer of Mending on the tank [depends on the encounter] every time it's off cooldown.
3. Cancel-cast Greater Heal, letting it land as needed.
4. Use Flash Heal for DPS who take damage, quicker heals on the tank, and every time Surge of Light procs.
5. For AOE damage, use Circle of Healing (instant, tops off 5 raid members, 6 with the glyph) and/or Prayer of Healing (longer cast time; heals for more but only the priest's own group; generally better for 5-mans).
6. Use Binding Heal when you take damage.
That seems a bit outdated, Prayer of Healing was changed in 3.1 to heal any party's members, not just the priest's. I don't see the point of keeping renew on the tank either if you're assigned to raid heals. Maybe he was talking about for heroics only.
It might be, I looked it up really quickly without re-reading context. I just remember reading it when I was curious about priest and it made a lot of sense to me in terms of logically ordering your thought process for holy.
So.
Last week, we wiped to Dreamwalker, when suddenly this door opened up at some point between wipes:
Spoiler: show
We ventured down, aggroed what seemed like every frost whelp in the world, had a good laugh about it, and then went on our merry way, continuing to work on Dreamwalker.
We just beat Dreamwalker for the first time, and the door from last week remained closed, while the one in her hall opened up. So we got the hilarious room with the waves of nerubians and the vrykul.
Why can't the nice door directly to the whelps open up again?
Oh a separate note, about to go die to Sindragosa. Any tips?
