They are one in the same, but DP will overwrite totem of wrath, as it gives higher sp.

what metta said. it leaves room for an ele sham to use searing totem and do a lot better dps.
100 more sp is a lot of sp lol, especially in 10s where sometimes there isn't an ele.
According to warlock SimCraft Demo is near 700 DPS under Destro assuming bis ICC gear (I don't know warlock scaling but I would assuming Demo scales the worst because of Demonic Pact). Now Demonic Pact at 4000 SP (This is normal for a lock I assume considering you said 400 SP bonus) adds 259 DPS to me (fireball mage, around 4500 gear score). I can see how Demo can be competitive if your geared and have a normal raid setup caster wise, but I wouldn't make generalizations that bringing in a 3k DPS demo warlock is worth it.
I've tried affliction and was not impressed at all damage-wise, it's possible that the bosses I'm fighting just aren't living long enough for me to take full advantage of the spec. (Unless I'm misunderstanding, SB > Haunt > UA > Corruption > CoA > SB Filler, never clip dots unless you can time the damage and the refresh perfectly using Felhunter.)
for fights without a coe mechanic - coe, sb, haunt, corr, ua, sb filler
it's optimal when min/maxing to use corr after haunt is casting because you are maximizing the gcd of haunt and instead of spell cast > spell cast > you're doing spell cast > instant cast in what could be described as 1 gcd. plus when using haunt > ua you could apply ua milliseconds because haunt reaches the target which would make your entire ua uptime terrible until refreshed.
as for having just-dinged-80 gear for 5 mans, destro is probably going to do the most damage/dps. affliction is slightly dependent on gear whereas destro kind of blows shit up.
My server is kind of shit for guilds, and all of our pugs fail. So, for cat, I've been trying to decide if I should reroll as a ret pally or prot pally, or just stick with my rogue. Rogue is kind of getting boring though... Here's what I have.
wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Fizzcrank&n=Excero
I already have the heirloom shoulders for the Paladin... saving up for chest and trinket, any recommendations on weapons? Dal'rends charge I'll get for prot, but what about for ret?
Actually the Mace is better for Prot. The two-handed axe is really the only option for ret.
Sort of a follow up, just used 12/7/52 on Marrowgar and LDW 25 and it was surprisingly good. It's much more fun to play than Mut or Combat, and the damage is on par with my combat spec. I basically used all of my combat gear and weaponswapped the 2.70 hilt sword out with Heartpierce for Shadowdance. 8k dps on Marrowgar, 8.6k on LDW until I got one shotted right when p2 started. Didn't feel like using it on Saurfang, about to use it on Fester25. It's just soooo much more fun than any other spec, I wish it was more rewarding too ;(
edit: 8.7k on fester25 <.<!
No, Corruption is best used after Haunt because it allows the Shadow Bolt you cast first time to travel to the boss so you get the 5% crit debuff on without waiting on travel time wasting cast time, it uses the same number of global cooldowns because Haunt's cast time is equal to the GCD. The debuff is the only reason to wait on casting Corruption, it is however a very very good reason and should not be ignored
Sort of true, Affliction beats Destruction on fights that allow affliction to ramp up to proper dps levels regardless of gear level, but for heroics you'll want destruction just so you can do damage to everything instead of just bosses, ramp up time is too long for trash on afflictionas for having just-dinged-80 gear for 5 mans, destro is probably going to do the most damage/dps. affliction is slightly dependent on gear whereas destro kind of blows shit up.
Just a curiosity question but how the hell do people reach 5k+ gearscores. All damn day my server is filled with shouts for 5k+ gearscore raids. I checked myself out on wow-heroes.com (Kaulian Exodar) and I am nearing 2.5k on mine and I really don't see how I could add 3k more. Just a curiosity.
They're talking about GS addon. It's not the same score as wow heroes.

Gearscore will be roughly twice your wowheroes score.
So I just hit 80 on my rogue, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...sin&cn=Speaker. Was wondering about rotations, I understand the boss rotations of keep HFB and SND up while spamming 5 point Envenoms. For heroics though, I'm not sure what I'm doing. I assume if theres 3 mobs or more, just run up and spam FoK right? If theres not should I still SND and HFB before starting to envenom? Like with a paladin tank I would have to Mutilate > Rupture > HFB > Mutilate > SND > Mutilate > Mutilate > Envenom, seems pretty lengthy for trash.
If anyone has any suggestions, tips, ect for my rogue I welcome them.
Edit: Oh and how the fuck does Tricks of the Trade work.
First off, on bosses, you spam 4 or 5 point envenoms depending on how your combo points decide to accrue. Using mutilate at 4 CP is a waste of energy.
As far as heroics go, short answer is it doesn't matter. Things die so fast anyway that you're right, you don't have time to go into a lengthy rotation. If theres no other bleeds in the party, usually open up with a garrote > hfb > slice > mut til 4 or 5 CP > envenom. That said, it usually doesn't work out quite that nice, and you may find yourself just envenoming at like, 3 CP to dump CP before the mob dies and keep your slice going. As far as FoK goes, its optimal for dps on pulls of 4+, and probably only slightly worse on groups of 3 mobs, if not break even, so thats always an option.
Tricks just basically transfers all threat you accumulate for its duration to whoever you use it on and gives them a 15% damage boost. Its a pretty nifty move. Also, pick yourself up a librarian's paper cutter ASAP. Should be cheap enough, and it'll be a significant upgrade over your OH now, you never want to stick a slow dagger there.
Like stated before, envenom at 4+ combo points, but at the same time, do not overwrite a previous envenom buff; wait until it wears out to envenom again unless you are about to cap energy (capped energy = wasted energy > wasted dps). Having some way to track your envenom buff goes a long way in raising your dps; I personally use fortexorcist's spell timer bar to keep track. For heroics trash as mutilate, just stealth up, garrote one mob, HFB, and start spamming FOK. For raid trash packs that last a bit longer, get HFB up any way you can, mutilate up to 4/5 points, get close to capping energy then envenom and start your FOK spam while you have the envenom buff up. You usually only need to do this once as it'll stack DP to 5 very quickly on every mob in the vicinity.
Always try to start out a fight in stealth for the Overkill energy buff. If you can't get anyone else to put a bleed up for you for HFB consistently, open with Garrote, otherwise open with Mutilate.
IMO, the optimal openings as mut -
If you have to put up the bleed yourself: Stealth > Garrote > HFB > SND > Cold Blood + Mutilate > Mutilate (if you have to) > Envenom > start mut/envenom rotation with 4+ ruptures only when HFB is going to expire soon (generally less than 10 seconds left)
For this rotation, MOST of the time you have enough time to get off 2 mutilates to get 4/5 CP for the first envenom to refresh SND due to the overkill buff. If you don't think you can get enough energy in time, obviously just envenom instead of the second mutilate. Sometimes you won't even need the 2nd mut though.
If you have someone else to get bleeds on boss for you: Stealth > Mutilate > HFB > SND > Cold Blood Mutilate > Mutilate (if you have to) > Envenom > mut/envenom rotation
You will pretty much always have enough time to get 4/5 CP for the first envenom to refresh SND due to the first SND being a 2pt SND from the mutilate opener. Again, you might not even need the 2nd mutilate.
Thanks a lot everyone, the only thing I don't really understand now is why glyph Tricks of the Trade? I only seem to find a real use for it on AoE packs and would much rather have 20% more FoK damage since my DPS is so low (Sitting at around 2k DPS overall, 3k+ on bosses :/)
Oh and also Gems? I can't seem to find a reason to gem AGI (Rawr uses it as the default gemming but for some reason it always does less DPS then AP), and even with an item like Needle-Encrusted Scorpion ARP still falls behind AP by a shit ton.
Fan of Knives is likely better for trash, but you use glyph of tricks for the raid damage increase on bosses. 4 extra seconds of 15% damage+ to a raid member every 30 seconds is a lot better than a move you likely wont look at on bosses. As far as tricks'ing only on AoE packs, that'll change once you start fighting some things which actually last longer than 15 seconds where you start to use tricks less as misdirect and more as a damage buff. Plus, when you get 2pc tier 10 spamming tricks is like a 100dps increase.
I've never used rawr, but as far as I know it doesn't work for rogue. Go to EJ and download some spreadsheets, although you'll have to input all your gear manually (it only has like, triumph badge+ gear in there). Gemming, as mut never gem armpen, its practically useless for us. Red slots are always straight AP, and depending on your gear level and what you have, yellow can be either straight haste or something like ap/haste (again, spreadsheet will tell), and make sure to throw in a blue gem somewhere for your meta.
I play combat, but I used to play mutilate for just about all of naxx raiding...
You see glyph of ToT being recommended mainly for people with 2 pc t10. It's also beneficial when you start to get really geared and auto attack takes threat off of the tank etc... when you kill trash, make sure you mutilate once, start up snd and make sure you're autoattacking for some extra dps, as a prelude to your FoKing.
AGI is recommended by the spreadsheet and by rawr probably because your AP and crit are so low. Mine are still low. You really start to switch to AP when you get into ICC gear (they have, literally, a fuckton of haste and crit etc.). As mutilate though, odds are you're fine with attack power because you have the extra 5% from CQC.
never use a blue gem.. always go for the tears imo
